Download RedSn0w 0.9.6b2: Jailbreaks iOS 4.1 on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch
Redsn0w 0.9.6b2 is now available for Download. You can now Jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G, iPod Touch 4G, 3G, 2G, iPad 3.2.2 and Apple TV 2G. RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 now comes loaded with Limera1n exploit, Custom Boot Logos, Pwned-DFU Mode to restore Custom IPSW.
RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 includes the following extras:
- Custom bootlogos for iPhone3G/iPhone3GS/iPod2G users (with qualifying bootroms)
- An option that implements the “DFU” button in PwnageTool. This button (which you can use from Windows) lets you prepare your device for a custom DFU. Even if you’re purely a Windows user, you can get a trusted friend to run PwnageTool over your IPSW to create a custom IPSW. You can now install that custom IPSW on your own Windows box, after you run this redsn0w version.
Warning: If you depend on unlock, better stay away from RedSn0w, Limera1n and Greenpois0n because these tools requires you to be running iOS 4.1 which comes with 05.14.02, 02.10.04 baseband (not unlockable ATM) and wait for an UltraSn0w update or use PwnageTool to preserve current baseband.

i have iphone 3gs 4.0 new boot rom mc151b , modem 5.11.07 also got pwnagetool customer firmware to activate from mac. however pwnage tool dfu mode not working for me on mac. can i try redsnow 0.96b2 to put in dfu mode and then restore from custom firmware that i made from pwnage tool..
and is redsnow 0.96b2 is untethered for me as iphone 3gs 16gb new boot rom, so that i don’t have to plug in frequently when i restart my phone???

I used both grennpoison and Limera1n. Everything goes perfect uptill the step where Cydia is downloaded via WiFi, but after that when re-boot of my IPAD happens, initially it takes long time to shut down, and then gets stuck on re start screen with apple Logo. I am doing it on windows 7 with itunes 10.1.*. any help wud be appreciated.
Ok. I used redsnow with the ipsw firmware method. Done successfully. I COuld not jailbreak with either greenpoison or lime… Than redsnow

am i right in thinking RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 for Windows will jailbreak a iphone 3GS running 4.1 (8B117) with modem firmware 05.14.02
and if so do i use iPhone2,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw what looks like a standded IPSW from itunes or do i use one of the custom ACTIVATED or NOT ACTIVATED ipsw files.
please any help out there.

It works!!!!
It works if you use the latest redsnow version.
Just point the regular FW4.1 to redsnow cause it will not recognize the custom one.
Then select just go into DFU for now and do the restore from itunes using shsh from tiny umbrella.
