Jailbreak iPod Touch 3.1.3 Firmware with RedSn0w 0.9.4

The latest iPhone OS 3.1.3 firmware Breaks the jailbreak on iPod Touch done using any jailbreak tool like RedSn0w, BlackRa1n, PwnageTool. Fortunately using the latest RedSn0w 0.9.4 you can still jailbreak iPod touch 3.1.3 firmware with a tricky step.

iPhone users please navigate to:

Using RedSn0w 0.9.4, you can
Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G (older Non-MC models only)

and using RedSn0w 0.9.3 you can
Jailbreak iPhone Touch 1G

ATTENTION: Don’t go near this if you have 3GS, newer iPod Touch 2G, or any iPod Touch 3G. usual warning applies: Try it at your own we can not be held responsible if anything goes wrong.

now that if you have iPod Touch 2G (Non MC) or iPod Touch 1G and want to jailbreak 3.1.3 firmware, simply follow the step by step instructions below.

Jailbreak iPod Touch OS 3.1.3 Firmware

Step 1

Step 2

Connect your iPod touch to your computer and run iTunes. Update your iPod Touch to firmware 3.1.3.

Step 3

Once your iPod Touch is updates to OS 3.1.3, the iPod Touch is ready for jailbreak. Run the downloaded RedSn0w file.

Just make sure;

  • RedSn0w 0.9.3 to jailbreak iPod Touch 1G
  • RedSn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G (Non-MC)

Step 4

Hit the Browse button and provide it the downloaded firmware 3.1.2 file because RedSn0w 0.9.4 or 0.9.3 will not recognize iPhone OS 3.1.3.

Step 5

RedSn0w will verify your firmware file. Once done, hit the Next button.

Step 7

On the next screen, check mark your desired options. For the purpose of this guide just choose Install Cydia and hit next. Select custom logos if you want them too. Hit Next.

Step 8

Read the on screen instructions to put your iPhone into DFU Mode.

Once you’ve entered into DFU Mode, RedSn0w will do its work and jailbreak your iPod Touch OS 3.1.3 and on successful completion, your iPod Touch will reboot.

You have successfully jailbreak iPod Touch 3.1.3.

We strongly recommend iPod Touch 3G, new iPod Touch 2G, iPhone 3GS and 3G user to stay away from iPhone OS 3.1.3 until unless iPhone Dev Team or GeoHotz come up with updated jailbreak and unlock tool. However, you can always jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.2 using Custom Firmware, RedSn0w, PwnageTool, Sn0wBreeze, BlackRa1n and unlock iPhone OS 3.1.2 using UltraSn0w and BlackSn0w.

    Dear Iphone Heat,

    I have an Ipod Touch 2G (Non MC model) and I am on OS 2.2

    I am not able to download the 3.0 OS or 3.1 OS through the link on this site and Apple is requesting for payment though itunes.

    How to upgrade to at least 3.0 without having to pay for the OS?

      Dear Billy, you torrent.
      Either search Google or The Pirate Bay for the appropriate software/firmware.
      Connect your iPod to iTunes.
      When in iTunes, select/click your iPod.
      Hold Shift.
      Click Restore.
      ???
      Firmware!!!!!

      Then, Jailbreak.

      to fix this all you have to do is when it says “waiting for reboot” hold power and home buttons untill it? starts loading everything…

    Hi i have a non mc 2g ipod. It runs 3.1.3 and when in dfu redsn0w crashes. I have tried running as administrator and it appears to last longer. should I downgrade to 3.1.2 and just try it like that?

    help please!!!

    i have followed the instructions carefully. after the process my ipod is working nicely however when i tried syncing applications from my itunes it always says there’s an error.. i was able to transfer music the only prob is the application… mine is a 2g ipod touch model MB..

    hope you can help me on this. i badly need some applications to be installed on my ipod..

    do i have to restore my ipod touch before running the jailbreak because if i restore i will lose my current apps and it is to much work to get it back. i have an ipod touch 2g non mc and 3.1.3 and i have everything needed for the jailbreak, but my only question is that can i jailbreak without restoring or i have to because i dont want to. and if its tethered how do i rebbot it if i accidently turn it off. do i have to restore because it doesnt say i have to in the tutorial. please reply and contact me at my email….. pleaseeeee!!! tkbradleyfootball@yahoo.com

    this doesnt really have anything to do with the jailbreak, but whenever i open the file after i click the link it opens in notepad. I have a 2G iPod Touch model number starts with MB. Could anybody help me with this?

    Hi,
    I am new with this stuff, but when I followed the process I have some doubts:
    * After finishing with the redsn0w my Ipod touch 1g remains for a long time (around 10 min) like a brick, after this time the screen fully fade out and then I can do a reset, but nothing happens. I do not have the cydia icon.
    Pleas help

      There’s no need to worry abt it anymore..

      simply use Spirit jailbreak.. checkout the iPhone jailbreak guide.. and follow the iTouch 3G guide (same steps for all devices)

    A friend has an iphone 2g that is on OS 1.1.2, it’s AT&T
    what is the best way to jailbreak/unlock? Does the OS need to be updates to 3.1.2 or 3.1.3?–then i know how to do it with blackrain—but I have seem the comments on redsnow 0.9.4 and spirit….advice?

      go for RedSn0w with latest firmware..
      for Spirit you must have home screen access on ur iPhone (Not Stuck at emergency calling screen)

        I’m trying to jailbreak my iPod Touch 1G 3.1.3
        It doesn’t recognize any of the firmware I provide. You have only iPHONE firmware 3.1.2, but I tried that firmware anyways. Didn’t work. I downloaded iPod Touch firmware 3.1.2 from some other site, and it won’t recognize it either.
        What am I doing wrong? I’m using redsn0w 0.9.3 exactly as you said…

          make sure the firmware is 3.1.2 because it can’t recognize OS 3.1.3

            Yup, I’m totally positive about it. It’s iPod1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw and I’ve downloaded many many maaany copies, just in case I had a corrupted file. It keeps saying “Unable to recognize IPSW”

      In fact RedSnOw wait for an iPod reboot in Upgrade mode (keep on/off + Home, then release on/off).

    everything goes fine exept after i see the pineaple screen in my ipod
    after that it reboot
    and i see a shit laods of writting
    and it says a couple of failure
    and its not jailbreak cuz i cant install appz

    my ipod touch (8gb) went into recovery mode .. itunes icon and wire shows on the screen. when i connected it says i must restore my ipod. i dont want to lose my music and videos. can you please help me. is there anyway i can save my music and videos from recovery mode >?

    I’m attempting to jailbreak a 1G iPod touch running iOS 3.1.3. I using a custom built computer running Windows 7 Professional and iTunes 10.5.

    The second stage of the jailbreak installs and then it gets stuck at “Waiting to reboot”. I must be getting into DFU mode correctly or I wouldn’t reach that stage. Is there something else interfering with the software? Do I need to try this in Windows XP compatibility mode?
