Musclenerd has just confirmed that you can jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 with RedSn0w 0.9.5 beta. Previously, redSn0w 0.9.5 beta was supported with iPhone 3G but now he has added iPod Touch 2G support as well. The RedSn0w 0.9.5 is still in beta and is meant for developers only so that they may get their jailbreak apps ready as soon as the iOS 4 hits the masses.

*** This Jailbreak also enables multitasking & wallpaper iOS 4 for iPod Touch 2G which Apple has disabled by default. ***

IMPORTANT:

  • This Jailbreak works for iPod Touch 2G (Non-MC model), iPhone 3G and Mac OS X and Windows users. (iPhone 3GS & iPhone 3G  iOS 4 jailbreak guides are linked at the bottom)

Let’s start jailbreaking iPod Touch 2G running iOS 4 with RedSn0w 0.9.5 beta5.

Jailbreak iPod Touch 2G iOS 4 Final

Step 1

All the required stuff is linked at the bottom. Download them.

Step 2

Install the downloaded iOS 4 on your iPod Touch 2G. iOS 4 requires iTunes 9.2 to restore. (Download links below)

Step 3

  1. Run the downloaded redsn0w 0.9.5 beta5.
  2. Hit the Browser button. Select iOS 4 for iPod Touch 2G. (Download Link below)
  3. Check mark Cydia and hit next button.
  4. You’ll be instructed to put your iPod Touch into DFU Mode to install jailbreak.
  5. When your iPod Touch 2G comes back up, you’ll notice Cydia has a blank white icon (we told you many things were broken right now!) Allow Cydia to reorganize, then accept the update it offers. When Cydia restarts, you should see its real logo now.

    Why does it say it is not supported on my system?? Is this only for Intel Macs?? If so- why isn’t there one made for power pc?

    i put my ipod in dfu mode and it comes up in itunes and everything but redsn0w doesnt seem to react to it??

    Hi,
    I’ve jailbroken ma iPod touch 2gen OS4 with RedSn0w 0.9.5 b3, but I wanted to go back to previous software. I tried to restore using 3.1.3 firmware, but an error popped-up. What’s wrong and how can I go back to prebious firmware? Help!

      Put your iPod Touch in DFU mode and then restore.. you’ll get an error but after reboot it’ll be the downgraded OS

    When I tried jailbreaking my Ipod touch 2nd gen v4.0, The process stops at the: Please wait while your divice is being processed, Waiting for reboot.
    Nothing loads then.. My IPod screen is still off.. nothing shows. I don’t know whats wrong with it. also, my IPod is a PC model, not MC. Please tell me whats wrong?

    hello, ive tried do jailbreak my ipod touch 2g. I did all of these steps and when i came to do browse my firmware, it work so after that it say’s youre device is not the correct one for this version beta…
    What is the problem? What can i do?

    iPod 2G, from 3.1.2 to 4.0 with this steps and app worked perfect to me!

    Some apps ain’t compatible yet (lockinfo, infinidock, infiniboard, etc…) but it’s fine!

    what if i have a jailbroken ipod already? i want to update to ios 4 because its still the previous version. if i update it and re-jailbreak it, will i have to get everything all over again?
    or will i still have all my themes/fonts/etc.?
