Hi… when i tried to restore the iphone, i had this “The Iphone iphone could not be restored. An unknown error occured (13)”

can anyone help me?

Steven May 14, 2009, 12:37 am

i got the same error. anyone know why or how to fix?

iPhone Heat May 14, 2009, 1:11 am

@ Edwin & Steven

Put your iPhone in Restore mode Manually. Take out you Sim first.

Turn phone completely off

Press and hold the home button and insert the usb cable.
keep hold of the button until iTunes connects to your phone in recovery mode.
If there is a clean backup firmware still on your iPhone it will start the recovery mode via iTunes.

Your phone should work again as it was at the start , if it does then great now go back and redo all the steps above this time with the correct firmware.

Neal June 3, 2009, 1:05 am

Worked like a charm! I have actually been searching for a way to jailbreak with my baseband being the 2.30.08 and this one worked first try with no troubles. I don’t use my iPhone as a phone since i don’t use ATT but I use it as a WiFi surfer and music player. The only thing that I noticed was that I received a carrier update and I wasn’t sure whether or not to update (It says “Waiting for activation”) other than that, perfect!

wick June 5, 2009, 12:51 am

i had a few minor problems- what to do when asked to sync with iphone back up, or start as new iphone- last time i synced and it restored it back to the 2.30.03 firmware. so now i just started it as a new iphone and merged contacts- works just fine, only lost my recent texts… small trade- THANKS GUYS!

sash June 6, 2009, 1:14 am

I downloaded the firmware file, but i cant see a file with the ” .ipsw ” extension. Would having windows vista be a problem?

Charlie June 8, 2009, 2:37 pm

Never mind. I got it to work. I used Internet Explorer before, and then I used Firefox and it worked perfectly. This guide was very helpful.

tNo July 22, 2009, 12:52 am

Can anybody tell me, that after jailbreaking the Iphone 3g, will it go back to factory settings ? or all the data it had i.e: contacts, messages, pictures etc will stay the same ??

please tell me cause i was buy all the applications before but now its too costly ..

iPhone Heat July 22, 2009, 1:19 am

@ tNo
You can backup all your personal data with iTunes.
Only Cydia Apps will be removed but your iTunes Store Apps will remain in your computer just need to sync them again. and iTunes also let you redownload your purchased apps for free.

helpme October 23, 2009, 2:33 am

Hi All,

I just traded with a friend for an iphone and i think it’s the 3g. I like to jailbrake it and unlock to use t-mobile. I’ve read alot of blogs and youtube but still confused.

this is what i current have on the iphone.

version 3.1 (7c144)
model MB704LL
modem firmware 05.11.07

what are the steps i need to do to jailbrake it and unlock?

Some are saying i have to downgrade the firmware to 04.26.something and depending on the bootloader of 5.8 version. sounds like that is the only version that works for downgrade. this that correct?

Please advice.

iPhone Heat October 23, 2009, 11:28 am

@helpme
modem firmware (Baseband) 05.11.07 in NOT unlockable. However you still can ailbreak it.
If lucky you’ve bootloader 5.8 (which is rare) then you can downgrade your Baseband to 04.26 and then use UltraSn0w to unlock it.
Jailbreak your iPhone by restoring with custom firmware and search for 3G Fuzzyband Downgrader in cydia it will tell you if ur baseband is downgradable or not

HARTKAER April 11, 2010, 4:21 am

Hay, is it the same with the 3Gs?:)
