Solutions to Some issues

Different SIM detected. Please connect to iTunes (fix)

(Thanks TkM)

1. Put ur phone in Recovery mode without having a sim card inserted .
(Turn phone completely of, the press and hold the home button and insert the usb cable. keep hold of the button until itunes connects to ur phone in recovery mode)
2. Restore your phone though iTunes
3. Close down iTunes and redo all that is listed above with the quickpwn !
4. insert Sim u will be good to go!

The iphone “iphone” could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (5)

You need to start from 0% meaning make a clean restore of your iPhone, how to do that, put your iPhone in Restore mode Manually. Take out you Sim first.

Turn phone completely off

Press and hold the home button and insert the usb cable. keep hold of the button until iTunes connects to your phone in recovery mode. If there is a clean backup firmware still on your iPhone it will start the recovery mode via iTunes.

Your phone should work again as it was at the start , if it does than great now go back and redo all the steps above this time with the correct firmware.

There’s no Unlock Option available in QuickPwn

Make sure that you have downloaded the right firmware file (ipsw) and have updated your iPhone firmware. or

Run the Live update from the iTunes.

Firmware should be 2.2.1 (I have also tried the same process after downgrading to firmware 2.2 and it worked like a charm.)

Let me know the details. We will figure this out.

After done this. My fone just can work as a Ipod touch, It doesnt have any signal. how can i solve this?

Admin March 18, 2009, 11:58 pm

@ Kyle..

Did you tried it on iPhone 2G?
if no.. then after completing the process when you connect to iTunes, it will ask for connection with apple to fix some error in your iPhone. Don’t allow it to do so. It will remove the unlocking and jailbreaking.

Try again.

Tk M March 19, 2009, 4:05 am

Man u are GREAT and of course DEV Team, but ONE BIG issue, The Phone is telling me Different SIM Detected Please Connect to iTunes, once i do it just tells me Wrong Sim or whatever Like the Bug u were talking about 😛 I’m still searching a solution til u could reply If i find it before than ill be sure too post it on here!
Thanks though for everything!

Admin March 19, 2009, 4:20 am

@ TkM
Why not you restore and try again..
Make sure your desired sim is inserted. after restore complete the above process..

and after unlocking.. when you reconnect with iTunes it will ask for permission to fix some error (I don’t exactly remember the error) Do not let iTunes do that.
Good Luck

Tk M March 19, 2009, 6:09 am

“the iphone “iphone” could not be restored. An unknown error occured (5).”

Any advise for me??

Admin March 19, 2009, 6:22 pm

Which OS you are currently working on?

Mjaga147 March 19, 2009, 6:24 pm

windwos XP

Admin March 19, 2009, 6:26 pm

Why not you try re-downloading .ipsw file (iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw) it might be corrupted. and download it without any Download manager.
and make sure you’re using iTunes 8.*

and post the results.

Mjaga147 March 19, 2009, 6:36 pm

okay will do

Admin March 19, 2009, 6:49 pm

@ Mjaga147
1) Update to the latest version of iTunes
2) Restart your PC
3) Now try restoring the device again in iTunes.

USB Troubleshooting
1) USB 2.0 ports that are built-in to the computer are preferred.
2) If iPhone was connected to USB ports front panel, try connecting it to rear USB ports.
3) Now try restoring the device again in iTunes.

Good Luck

I first installed the wrong firmware iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw on the phone then I tried installing the correct on but it does not work I get the following error msg

“the iphone “iphone” could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible”

I don’t know what else to try except for maybe downgrading my itunes to 8.0.0

Please help

I have done all of the step up to the point where i am to get the phone into restore mode and then hold the home button for 5 sec, then the power and home button together etc to get it into dfu mode, but I have doen it about 20 times and I cannot get it to coneect in the right mode? It seems like when I hold the power and home button together for the 10 seconds, the phone powers down, I continue holding hte home button, but nothing ever happens?? Help PLEASE!!!

Ryan March 22, 2009, 9:54 pm

Hey,, I’m trying to use your above ideas to unlock/jailbreak my iphone 2g.. but I’m getting caught up even in the first part of your instructions. When I plug it into itunes I can’t even restore it.. it just goes to the “let’s get started” page. The page you show, I can’t even get to that page.. I can only hit Continue and they start asking me if I’m a customer. What should I do ?

Also, my iphone has been previously unlocked and been in use for a year, I accidently updated the firmware and it screwed me. So, now on the phone is the usb cable and itunes pictures.. any ideas ?

Thanks

TkM March 22, 2009, 10:59 pm

Lisa martin / Ryan this applies to both of u
start from 0.

Ur phone should be OFF , MAKE SURE UR PHONE DOES NOT TURN ON when u connect it to the USB , than press down the home button while its off and connected to ur pc til u get into restore mode! than do all the nice steps via iTunes, to get a FRESH Restore for your iPhone , than Follow all the steps Above for unlocking again and it should not be a problem Make sure ur sim is out!
this should also help u guys out, if im understanding ur guys issues correctly,
Whenever something goes wrong start from new Restore Manually than let iTunes do the rest! To get it back in the normal state so u can be able to unlock !!
If this info doesn’t help please post back n let me know exactly whats going on step by step on ur side so i can assist u further! but try that out first n let me know ! i will check back again later today, to see if everything got solved or not
MUCH LUCK!

mhutch March 23, 2009, 5:52 am

i can not get any service or signal i can not make a call or recieve txt and i went thru the process with out any trouble

Admin March 23, 2009, 6:09 am

@ mhutch
Did u mark the option: Unlock iPhone in quickpwn?
Y not give a shot again!

Ryan March 23, 2009, 9:46 am

Question:.. I did get it to go to the Restore part, where I can actually try and restore it but it says “restore and update” ..I click REstore and that’s what pops up. Is this fine as well ?

Mjaga147 March 23, 2009, 10:47 am

@TkM

this is what I really don’t understand if I use the iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw firmware every single one of the steps above work 100% fine except for the fact that I don’t get an unlock option in quickpwn. but I let it complete anyway.

Then I insert my sim card into the iphone and it asks for the pin number which I do and it accepts it then I get the normal home screen but only with like zero signal strenght

Ryan March 23, 2009, 11:02 am

TkM you are a life saver. My phone is up and running. I live in Hong Kong and brought it to a computer center and they wanted $40 to unlock it again, not a terrible price but you saved me $40, much appreciated. Let’s hope I dont’ run into any problems. I can install progs thru cydia and appinstaller ? but just dont’ update the phone, right ? If you are in Hong Kong, hit me up !!!!

Thanks again

TkM March 23, 2009, 2:11 pm

@Ryan no problem man glad to help i myself was about to go to the iPhone store to unlock coz i got soo many different reports on how to do everything once u do get an error over the internet but after 2 days of trying i became a pro at it , and yes u can install anything u want BUT u should check out the other post i put about Cracked Appz n Games for iPhone if u are not buying the Appz/Games via iTunes , or u will have a problem, and my next trip will be to China since i got some peeps in that area loool but thanks for the offer bro!

@Mjaga147 the reason u are not gettin the unlock opition is becasue u ur iPhone is not 2.2.1 updated it seems, make sure too run live update via itunes and install any new updates which should be 2.2.1 and try the steps again, ive heard of other people with this errors coz they didnt have the right firmware installed on their iPhone , there is a way too check the firmware on ur phone just google.com it and u will find the buttons u need to push to check firmware version get back with me if u still got the same issues Mjaga147

Hi. I have a 2g 2.2.1 that won’t do anything. I’ve tried to restore to 1.1.4, 2.2 and it always fails with the “unknown error”. The only way I can get to “normal” is if I restore it with an old AT&T SIM card inserted. I did the steps above for restoring without a SIM card. I closed itunes and continued. All good until Quickpwn gets to “is about to run on your iphone” and it just stays there. Any thoughts? thanks.

BTW, i had used ziphone and unlocked and jailbroke it successfully when it was still 1.1.4.

if QuickPwn is not working properly, you just make sure that you have .Net Framework 3.5 installed.
Get back with update.

Admin!

059 March 31, 2009, 8:48 pm

this is a good guide, if you follow all instuctions correctly, it works really well. thankyou for the great work.

John April 1, 2009, 10:05 am

HELP! I updated to 2.2.1 via shift/restore, but I keep getting an error every time I try to open the quickpwn software. I am completely stuck!

coshi April 1, 2009, 2:11 pm

There might be a ‘firmware string error’ occur. Ensure that you use version of indicated of QuickPwn indicated here. If it doesnt work, try downloading latest version from http://www.quickpwn.com/downloads

Admin April 1, 2009, 6:32 pm

@ John
Make sure you have Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5. Google it.

if that’s not the issue, try reading he bottom part of original guide.
Come bak with the progress.

Admin.

I want the costumizer on my iPhone 2g, but I’m not sure how to get it…. Also, after you get costumizer, do you have to download additional things, like backgrounds and text bubble colors?

Admin April 8, 2009, 3:15 am

@ compwiz85

Go ahead and upgrade.

@ msgz and contacts
Sync your contacts with Outlook.
for msgz backup there’s “Syphone” if you are on Mac. for Windows give google a shot.

I will be adding these tips in my upcoming posts. So stay tuned to learn How to iPhone

compwiz85 April 8, 2009, 10:47 pm

PG April 10, 2009, 11:50 pm

Can I just unlock the phone? I do not need to move away from itunes at this time?
I travel a lot and want to use the iphone with different Sim cards in different countries, I am not that interested in new non-apple apps
Thanks
P.G.

Admin April 11, 2009, 1:01 am

@PG
It’s completely up to you, what you want to do with your iPhone.
Have a look at fifth screenshot under Step 3.

You can choose between your desired actions. cydia and installer let you install jailbroken apps. even after jailbreak you can still connect to iTunes and do normal stuff.

Jailbreaking just adds additional capabilities. Still not interested? just go for unlocking option and you’re done.

Mary April 12, 2009, 3:22 am

Hi, I’m not really sure what version my phone is but it’s a 2G, the problem is I tried to update it to 2.2.1 2 days ago and for some reason, it didn’t work. My screen shows a usb cord and the itunes logo, it won’t do anything else. It won’t let me restore my phone, it says there’s some kind of error and my itunes won’t even detect my phone.

Admin April 12, 2009, 3:26 am

@ Mary
Try the first solution posted at the bottom of the guide

Mary April 12, 2009, 3:55 am

I tried that but when I try to restore it, it won’t even restore.. it says some unknown error has occurred.

Admin April 12, 2009, 3:58 am

Mary
Please read all the solutions listed before further query
read 2nd solution

I think you’re not using the right firmware.
for 2G it’s iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw

Joshua April 13, 2009, 6:15 pm

are the bootloaders just for unlocking? can you still jailbreak without the bootloaders?

rar April 13, 2009, 8:05 pm

hi admin,
i manage to jailbreak my iphone…but when i insert the sim, no signal n appear “fixed number dialing active”
pls help me…
(

rar April 13, 2009, 8:18 pm

for your info i’m using iphone 2g, just upgrade to 2.2.1 from 1.1.4
now version 2.2.1 (5H11) and modem firmware 04.05.04_G

Admin April 13, 2009, 10:12 pm

@rar
There’s something wrong with your Simcard. Issue a new Sim or try another SIM.

Your iPhone is fine for sure.

Admin April 13, 2009, 10:14 pm

@ Joshua
There’s no such issue with iPhone 2G. Because Baseband has nothing to do with 3G.

Baseband messes with your iPhone 2G not 3G.

rar April 14, 2009, 8:56 pm

hi admin,

thanks for the advice….at last…my iphone is working now…

Andrew April 16, 2009, 9:42 am

Help!!! I got a used iphone today and it seemed to be working, just needed to be unlocked. Now, when I got the phone it said sim needed etc: but the bottom slide bar would not slide at all and neither would the bar slide when I tried to turn it off – I figured this was normal. Is it not?

Andrew April 16, 2009, 9:58 am

So I took it to a guy to unlock it and he did. But when he gave it me the bottom slide bar STILL would not respond! Also the very top of the phone has a lock symbol on it, but I do have the globe background and it says tmobile with bars in the top left. I can even receive calls, but not answer because the slide bar will not respond.
My question: is this a hardware problem? Or is this Typical of an unlocked iPhone? I read this entire page and the only thing I think the guy who “unlocked” my phone did wrong was not restore the phone with2.2.1 before he unlocked/jailbroke? He said he never saw this before.

At this point I think it’s a hardware issue, though the screen looks fine.:. The only curve ball is the lock sign aT the top of the phone.
Thanks in advance!

Andrew April 16, 2009, 10:01 am

Also it’s a first gen iphone. Sorry for the multiple posts. Great site, I will donate if I get this fixed.

Admin April 16, 2009, 11:09 am

@ Andrew.

Try Hard Reset
Press the home button and the sleep wake button simultaneously.
2. Hold both buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, Ignore the “Slide to power off” and keep holding. iPhone will reboot.

if this doesn’t help
Try restoring from iTunes to defaults.

Get back with the results

OK i keep trying to follow ALL of your instructions on jailbreaking/unlocking the 2g, i have done a 0% restore and everything works fine until it comes to getting the fone into DFU mode, i always get an error at the very end saying “Your device has connected in the wrong mode. Please try again” i dont understand what im doing wrong, i have jailbroken/unlocked iphones before but that was for 1.1.4 and havnt owned another till now, if u have ne help please let me know asap, im losing sleep over this!

iPhone Heat April 23, 2009, 2:19 pm

You’re unable to put your iPhone into DFU Mode.
Following steps is crucial at that stage.

Keanu Reefer April 30, 2009, 8:33 am

just updated and worked. Here are some important things i noticed!!

I have iphone 2g…

1. I unlocked on a PC. I have a mac with the latest OS 10.5.6 and read that people were having problems, so I decided to do it on a PC.

2. I first made sure that I can run QuickPwn! I ran on Vista Ultimate and it crashed!!! So then i tried on XP Pro and it worked!

3. after everything finished, i opened back up itunes and clicked on “Restore backup from…” It took forever! I thought it was erasing my whole iphone and restoring it back to the original version, but it did restore my contacts and photos. BUT when i clicked on Photos -> Camera Roll, it would crash! I rebooted and photos still crashes! Also crashes when trying to choose a ringtone and background picture! SO DO NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!

peace out.

iPhone Heat May 8, 2009, 4:17 pm

@S00nerguy28

Make sure you have iTunes 8.0.2 or latest, Quickpwn 2.2. For some, it worked after a few retries.

iPhone Heat May 8, 2009, 4:21 pm

@ Faisal

Perform a DFU restore. It will take care of your space issue.

Download 2.2 firmware and save it to somewhere in your HDD (desktop for quick access).

How to get into DFU mode?
With the iPhone connected to USB and iTunes open,
Hold down the both Power and Home button until the screen goes dark.
Release the Power button but keep holding the Home button and watch iTunes.
iTunes should say your phone is in restore mode …blah.blah.

The screen should be black as if the phone is off.

Hold shift key and click restore button(option + restore on a mac) and pick your firmware you downloaded.

that should take care of your space problem.

Come back with the update.

Faisal May 8, 2009, 11:18 pm

@ iphone Heat,

Then it means i have to downgrade firmware from 2.2.1 to 2.2.0. Again my second issue is what is the name of that software to copy all contact from SIM to phone book.
Thanks.

I started download 2.2 and try to restore accordingly. I will let you know.

iPhone Heat May 9, 2009, 2:43 am

no need for 2.2.. you can do it with 2.2.1..

Faisal May 9, 2009, 3:57 am

@iphone Heat

I tried with the DFU mode and upgrade as per you said and upgrsde was successful. Then i check the storage and seen it is same as before. 60 mb free out of 500mb where os is installed.

iPhone Heat May 9, 2009, 5:37 am

Restore is the one that i know to resolve space issue..
wait for someone to com up with better solution.

Ketan May 20, 2009, 5:41 am

Jailbreak/Unlock went successfully..

How do I get all my Text-MSG and Contacts back?

Before I’d backed-up my iPhone before restoring (Hold down the SHIFT key and hit RESTORE button) that part.

If I restore my previous back-up I will lose or will I the two icon’s on my iPhone Cydia and Installer.

Is there away to get both of those icon’s back after I’d restored my back-up as I still want to keep all my Text-MSG’s and Contact..

iPhone Heat May 20, 2009, 8:25 pm

@ Ketan..
Welcome to Jailbreak community :p

connect your iPhone via USB.
Right click on the iPhone in iTunes listed under left pane.
and select Restore from Backup…”
It will restore your backup stuff and will do nothing with those two sweet icons ..

Get back with the update.

Side note: I had another Iphone that was unlocked and jailbroken and it got bricked bad…had a friend with an ATT plan take it in and it was still under warranty (you can check at apple.com with serial number on back) and they replaced it, no questions asked….

fresh2def June 1, 2009, 3:48 am

jack June 5, 2009, 10:12 am

how do i get the iphone to NOT turn on when i connect it to the usb??

April June 5, 2009, 11:37 pm

I bought my phone already jailbroken and unlocked for 2.2. I used it with no problems for a couple months and wanted to just do a reset. I did… but then the phone got stuck on a restart cycle. Finally I figured out how to recover the phone, upgrade to 2.2.1… but then I needed it jailbroken and unlocked again as I have a T-mobile sim card. After a few retries from the beginning (less than 5) This worked wonderfully!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

Steve June 10, 2009, 1:52 am

Thanks, this worked for me with a @G running 2.2.1.

For me the missing step was to perform all of these steps without the SIM card in place. So I just followed TKM’s note above, and it worked great with a T-Mobile card. Much appreciated.

Marwar June 11, 2009, 10:53 pm

Hey admin thanks for these info
but its been 40 mins waiting for QuickPwn to finish the jail break and unlock and it says pleas wait …
pleas help me as soon as you can !
thanks

Jackson June 12, 2009, 7:38 am

@Marwar

Im having the same issue and would like some help as well. I feel like i’ve tried everything and it keeps freezing at this step. Any help would be great appreciated. 🙂 Thanks for everything thus far.

CvdM June 12, 2009, 12:46 pm

Hi team. Thanks for the step-by-step guide. However… I AM STUCK.

I have followed all the steps but when it comes to Quickpwn, it gets stuck at “Wait for your iPhone to connect in Recovery mode…” I later discovered that I didn’t have .Net 3.5 (only had .Net 3.0), so I upgraded my .Net framework, uninstalled and reinstalled Quickpwn, but still nothing. It still gets stuck at “Wait for your iPhone to connect in Recovery mode…” stage. Or at least – I have waited for about an hour to an hour and a half at that step, and nothing. (Windows Task Manager doesn’t say that it is “Not Responding”…)

Any tips or suggestions? I’ve tried various variations on the above themes (with SIM card installed, with SIM card NOT installed, restoring iPhone to its original factory settings via iTunes before loading up the 2.2.1. firmware, etc.) but every time I get stuck at that step.

I have iTunes 8.2.0.23 and I’m running XP SP2 (it’s a work machine with hectic security settings – YouTube and Facebook are blocked… could it be a security thing that is preventing Quickpwn from running properly…?). Or is it because my XP is not yet upgraded to SP3?

Thanks.

Jackson June 13, 2009, 1:06 am

@CvdM

I was getting stuck at the same place and I read on another site (not sure if I can post links but im going to) that you need to turn on some setting in Control Panel. Here’s the link.

http://rdsbc.wordpress.com/2009/01/17/quickpwn-troubleshooting-and-fixes/

Jackson June 13, 2009, 1:07 am

Oh and thanks Team for everything! It’s working like a champ now!

CvdM June 15, 2009, 9:58 am

Jackson – thanks for the link!

Turns out there were some XP settings I had to tweak, and then quickpwn worked beautifully. Now I have a fully jailbreaked and unlocked iPhone. Woohoo!

Brian June 16, 2009, 8:03 pm

Successfully restored and unlocked to 2.2.1 in about 25 min. quite smoothly. The first time I tried to open the firmware file it said the file was corrupt. Glad I had another downloaded file and this one worked. Kudos to the team and many thanks for a job well done. It’s you guys who keep us iphone lovers FREE and not being exploited by the carriers!

Dave June 17, 2009, 5:28 am

yea, i successfully downloaded the quikpwn 255-2 but when i extract it and open Quikpwn.exe it says i need the correct .NET framework, what do I do??

bigdaddyfatsac June 17, 2009, 12:07 pm

I’ve tried this for hours tonight…the QuickPwn program keeps getting stuck during Preparing your device screen where it tries to send the phone to recovery mode. I don’t even get the screen asking for the boot loader files. Is there something wrong with the version I downloaded?

I downloaded all of the required files before I started yet it’s not working…

Mike June 18, 2009, 2:24 am

I just jailbroke an iphone 2g using these steps and i must say everything went well!

Thanks

Em June 18, 2009, 6:12 pm

I finished step 1-2 but on step 3, when i execute QuickPwn and hit the blue arrow it says “access is denied” and that there is an unhandled exception that has occured in the application.

Please help me. Thank you

Em June 18, 2009, 8:46 pm

Please help me. I am stuck on the part “wait for your iphone to connect in recovery mode” I’ve been waiting for hours and still nothing happens. what should i do?

Em June 19, 2009, 9:05 am

Anyone can help me with this problem? I’m still stuck. I’ve already done everything from upgrading my .Net framework, uninstalled and reinstalled Quickpwn, with SIM card installed, and with SIM card NOT installed, and tweaking my windows setting, but still I cant proceed to the DFU mode..

Help guys! Thanks in advance.

bigdaddyfatsac June 19, 2009, 7:44 pm

I’m stuck on the same part…waiting for phone to connect in recovery mode… won’t do anything…

mrrodb211 June 23, 2009, 3:03 am

I’ve tried and tried . . . seems like I can’t get past “Wait for your Phone to Connect in recovery mode” . I check the Services, the version of the firmware, changed computers. I’ve done it all. Can’t gt to the DFU mode.

when i try to restore it i click restore and the window pops up that says restore and update but i dont want to update so what can i do?

Michael the Photographer July 15, 2009, 12:29 am

Will I lose all of my apps if I proceed to do this? I have a 2G cracked w/ 2.2.1 and 8 pages of apps on TMobile…Should I not bother? I really want Cydia. Can I install Cydia without doing this jailbreak?

iPhone Heat July 15, 2009, 1:53 am

@ Michael
Yes you will lose all your jailbroken applications and need to sync you App Store appz after restore.
You can only get Cydia if your iPhone is jailbroken… Cydia means Jailbreak

btw if you’re already on 2.2.1 then why u’r going to use this guide (it’s also 2.2.1)?
why not try 3.0 here:
How to Jailbreak/Unlock iPhone 2G OS 3.0 (Windows)

Michael the Photographer July 15, 2009, 2:16 am

Well, I have 2.2.1 and the phone works fine on TMobile and is not jailbroken. I still have the apple logo on start-up. I have all these apps, but i wanted Cydia. My question still remains, Will I lose my apps, data or anything else if I jailbreak my iPhone 2G?

Michael the Photographer July 15, 2009, 2:18 am

Lemme rephrase that. It is jailbroken, but without the Cydia install. It was the first gen of 2.2.1 jailbreak, a quickpwn. I am able to get apps, but wanted to install Cydia. Is it worth it? Will I lose my apps?

iPhone Heat July 15, 2009, 3:10 am

The answer is no..
You lose apps only when you restore your iPhone..
If you just use the jailbreak tool directly.. Quickpwn in this case.. it will add cydia to your Springboard.. nothing will happen to your Apps.

Skip to Step no. 3 in the above guide..

Unlocked, great with T-mobile. I did jailbreak and unlock via my Windows XP laptop but do run iMac for my home computer. Will I be able to connect this to my iMac iTunes and download contacts and calenders, etc OR will I NEED to re-jailbreak and UNLOCK?
Thanks

iPhone Heat July 15, 2009, 2:39 pm

@ Chris K
No need to rejailbreak it on your MAC
it will work with both Windows and MAc

MarkDavid July 26, 2009, 10:22 am

I Jailbroke my iPhone 2G 8GB with redsn0w, and checked off Cydia and Unlock while going through the process. It wasn’t unlocked. It just sais Locked SIM. I tried Boot Neuter, It would just make it do the _ _ _ _ 0 bars thing, without a carrier name beside it, then switch to no service then switch to Locked SIM. Are there are settings I’m forgetting, or missed? My Boot Neuter settings are : 4.6 , Neuter On , Fake Blank Off , Unlock On. I’m running 3.0 FW by the way.

Unlock iPhone 2G September 22, 2009, 4:36 am

This seems to be out of date since Apple has upgraded the firmware. I just bought a solution that sends me the updated instructions every time a Apple releases a new firmware update for the iPhone. It was worth every penny.

marco September 27, 2009, 9:23 pm

why is that when i download ur restore firmware thing it won’t work, as i open the zip it is separated it doesn’t come into one file like in the pictures im so frustrated now, does this work in vista?

I did the first step and is not working. Before restoring with iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw, I restored my iPhone manually. Then, I tried to restore it with iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw, it says that an error has occurred and I can’t even proceed to the following steps. What did I do wrong?

I have Iphone with firmware 2.2.1. How can I get Facebook App without having to upgrade to firmware 3.0, since doing that will unjailbreak the phone. Thanks.

iPhoneHeat February 24, 2010, 1:59 am

ur iPhone model?
if it’s 3G or 2G I strongly recommend you to update your firmware to 3.1.2… Use a custom firmware 3.1.2 (can be found here: http://www.iphoneheat.com/2009/10/download-iphone-os-3-1-2-custom-firmware-ipsw-files-for-iphone-3gs-3g-2g/)
just make sure to update to 3.1.2… NOT 3.1.3

mattmore07 March 1, 2010, 3:31 am

I found the link that you attached. My iphone 2G is already unlocked and my current carrier is T-Mobile. Which firmware should I download? The Activated or Not Activated? Sorry, I did not understand what it meant by official carrier.

mattmore07 March 1, 2010, 3:41 am

Oh and just FYI, I have a Mac OS X if that will make things any easier. Thanks, and sorry for asking so many questions.
