iFile is one of the most popular jailbreak apps available in Cydia. With the release of iOS 8.1, the Pangu jailbreak, Cydia and mobile substrate for iOS 8.1, the jailbreak community is now eyeing towards the jailbreak apps and tweaks developers to make their apps/tweaks compatible with the recently jailbroken iOS 8.1. Carsten Heinelt, the developer behind iFile, a Cydia application, has said that he’s working on iFile for iOS 8.1 – 8.
For those unfamiliar, iFile is a jailbreak application available in Cydia, which allows you to browse through the entire iOS filesystem on your jailbroken iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. iFile not only lets you browse through various directories, you can also view numerous files such as images, documents, plists files, and .deb packages. Other features include editing, viewing, compressing, copying, deleting, moving, renaming files and much more.
Carsten Heinelt, the developer behind iFile, has tweeted that he’s working on iFile for iOS 8.1. he has just started looking into the compatibility issues, and the first release will address a bug in the Box SDK which results in crash at start, and will also bring iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6 compatibility. Bug fixes will follow in the later update.
Here’s what he has tweeted about iFile for iOS 8.1:
I haven’t been active for a couple of months, but I’m still alive. I’ve just started looking into making iFile compatible with iOS 8.

The first update will just fix a bug in the Box SDK (leads to crash on start) and add iPhone 6 and 6 Plus compatibility. Next is bug fixing.

It’s already running on my iPhone 6 now and uses the additional screen estate (same valid for 6 Plus in Simulator).

Hopefully, if there are not lots of changes to be made over iOS 7.x compatible version, we should expect iFile for iOS 8 real soon.
