As an iOS users, if you ever wanted to have a taste of Android’s look and feel without switching the allegiances, Andrios is what you should give a try. Andrios, an upcoming jailbreak tweak, not only gives you an Android experience on a jailbroken iOS device, it does it in a really great way.
BrandDev & Logan O’Connell, the developers behind Andrios, has really put in a lot of effort to make the tweak up to their claim of providing an Android experience on iOS. Just like the name, which combines the words Android and iOS, the tweak itself is a combination of multiple tweaks meshed up into a single package.
Andrios is a Notification Center, an Action bar, miniplayer widget, a search widget, a power down menu tweak and much more. All these tweaks wrapped into a single package and named ‘Andrios.’
All these components of Andrios have their own section under tweak’s preferences. Users can easily configure each feature as per their liking. Please note that goal of these features is to bring Android experience to iOS. That said, some features work way better than others, while some are a bit out of place. Andrios comes with the following main components:
Action Bar
The action bar feature of Android phones consists of 3 buttons allowing you to go back to previous screen, switch between apps and goo to the Home screen. So, Action Bar is one of the prominent feature found in Andrios.
AlternateNC
Notification Center of Android is totally different experience than iOS. When AlternateNC is enabled, a simple pull down from the top will bring up the Notification Center with some button at the top-right corner of the screen. Those button let you access Settings, Contacts, or Battery settings. Another swipe down from the top brings up toggles for WiFi, Bluetooth, etc.
Miniplayer Widgets
Andrios offers an Android like Miniplayer widget that can be dragged around to anywhere on the screen. The Miniplayer widget shows information such as Album artwork, song, and artist alongside the media controls. Double tapping the widget hides/docks it, and double tap it again to bring it back.
Power Menu
Andrios brings an Android like power menu to iOS, that offers options to Power off, reboot, Respring, change ringer and turn on airplane mode.
Search Widget
It’s a Google search widget that also comes with search through Siri just by tapping on the mic icon. An query process trough this search widget brings up the browser widget that can be navigate through or you can open in Safari browser.
Switches Widget
This widget offers specific switches such as WiFi, Bluetooth, location, do not disturb and auto brightness that can be turned on or off.
Volume Slider
Adds volume slider by replacing iOS 8 Volume HUD, and it appears at the top of the screen.
Andrios also offers some extra features. Not all the feaures work so well, however it comes with so much cutomization options that you can easily settle with what works for you.
Andrios has been submitted to Cydia under TheBigBoss repo. It will set you back $3.99 when it hits that Cydia store. let us know you thought about Andrios in the comments section below.
