Semaphore, also known as @notcom, has released TinyUmbrella beta for iOS 8.2. As promised, he has rewritten the popular SHSH blobs saving tool – TinyUmbrella – for OS X and Windows. The tool can save SHSH blobs for iOS 8.2 and iOS 8.1.3, it is currently in beta and requires Java.
Semaphore has hinted that the new TinyUmbrella may have much more related to the firmware downgrading for bothe 32-bit and 64-bit devices. The older versions of TinyUmbrella only facilitated in downgrading the device but didn’t offer the downgrade capabilities.
Apple has almost put an end to the iOS downgrade methods and the SHSH blobs, the little file used in the downgrade process. But this time Semaphore attitude is different, it seems like he has something exciting to show us related to the future TinyUmbrella, SHSH blobs and the downgrading iOS version in general.
Admittedly, #tinyumbrella won’t be able to downgrade you yet 🙂 but saving your shshs is relevant again.

For those new to the iPhone, iPad and iOS hacking, Apple doesn’t allow users to restore an older version of software, only the latest version of iOS can be restored on iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. It’s because Apple doesn’t want your to go back to an older version in an effort to prevent iOS jailbreaking. For instance, if Apple allowed users to downgrade their iOS devices, they could restore back to iOS 8.1.2 and re-jailbreak their device using TaiG jailbreak.
The beta version of TinyUmbrella for iOS 8.2 comes with a simplified interface featuring a single button to save your blobs. It can automatically save SHSH blobs for your device and also offers the feature to save OTA SHSH blobs for all the known devices.
