Whatsapp, one of the most popular messaging platform – has updated its iOS app for iPhone with added support for the 3D Touch feature that Apple introduced in its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices. Since the messaging platform is now owned by Facebook, the company has recently been updating all its apps including Facebook and Messenger app with support for 3D Touch capabilities.
With the latest version 2.2.18 of Whatsapp, the messaging app gets the Peek and Pop functionalities of 3D Touch within the application. Hard pressing the in-app contents will Peek and Pop pictures, links, Contact card, videos, and locations in the conversation. However, the app lacks the quick shortcuts that should appear when the icon of the application on the Home screen is hard pressed.
While Facebook has added the basic 3D Touch feature to its WhatsApp application, the user still won’t be able to 3D Touch a conversation to get a preview of its contents or quickly respond to an incoming message from its notification banner by 3D touching it.
Here’s is the WhatsApp 2.12.8 changelog:
- 3D Touch: Support for 3D Touch on iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. You can now quickly Peek and Pop pictures, videos, links, contact cards, and locations you send and receive in chats.
- The WhatsApp interface is now mirrored and optimized for right-to-left languages like Arabic (iOS 9+).
- Bug fixes
