evad3rs has quietly released evasi0n7 1.0.8 update to their popular jailbreak tool at some point during the past week or so. As per the changelog, Evasi0n7 1.0.8 adds support for iOS 7 build 11A466 jailbreak. This build number of iOS 7 is not much common. Apparently it’s a factory build – not available for download – of iOS 7.0 firmware and some iPhone 5S and 5C units were shipped preloaded with this build. Folks with those devices were having issues jailbreaking their device with evasi0n7, up until now…
Here’s a post by an affected user at JailbreakQA:
I got my jailbroken iPhone 5s exchanged due to water damage and when I got my new iPhone 5s it came with the IOS 7.0 build (11A66) so I tried to jailbreak it and Evasion “this ios version is not supported” I tried with with vers 1.0.7 and 1.0.0. Whats going on? Was that build never supported? I can’t update because of the new iOS 7.1.
If you are getting an error message saying “this ios version is not supported” when trying to jailbreak you iPhone 5S or 5C with evasi0n7, you most probably has an iPhone unit that came with build 11A466 pre-installed. You could try evasi0n7 1.0.8 to jailbreak your device. You can check your iOS 7.0 build number under: Settings > General > About, and scrolling down to Version.
Before this update, folks were using a workaround that involved hex-editing evasi0n’s executable file, to get the jailbreaking done, but obviously with evasi0n 7 1.0.8, it’s a matter of a single click now.
