WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging app with more than 800 million active users, has updated its WhatsApp messenger for iPhone with voice calling feature. After multiple delays and months of promises, Facebook-owned WhatsApp has gained the voice calling functionality on iPhone.
The company has said that the voice calling feature will be rolled out to iPhone users “slowly over the next several weeks,” which means that the voice calling feature may not be available to you immediately.
In addition to the voice calling feature which enables users to call any other WhatsApp user – anywhere in the world – over a WiFi connection, the app has also gained a very welcomed app extension on iPhones running iOS 8 firmware. The extension takes advantage of iOS 8‘s multi-purpose share widget and let you share links to articles and media from other apps. New quick camera access button provides a faster way to take photos and capture videos during chats.
Voice calling, on WhatsApp, works just like Skype and Viber, allowing user to initiate WhatsApp call to other WhatsApp users. It’s worth mentioning here that the company said the service will be rolled out over coming weeks, which means that even the app update will be available immediately, you still may have to wait for calling service to become available on your iPhone.
