iPhone OS 3.1 Beta 2 Fixes Hacked Tethering on AT&T

As reported earlier that Apple has released iPhone OS 3.1 Beta 2 to registered developers. One of the big changes found in this latest iPhone 3.1 Beta 2 release is that it disables the Hacked Tethering feature for AT&T users in U.S.

Tethering is the process by which you can share your iPhone’s wireless internet connection with your laptop via USB or Bluetooth. So, your iPhone acts as a wireless modem and allows you to use internet on your laptop.

First time tethering feature officially came in iPhone OS 3.0, but AT&T didn’t allow its customer to avail tethering feature. Short after the release of iPhone OS 3.0, some genius guyz out there in jailbreak community find out a way to unofficially enable tethering on iPhones for AT&T U.S. users.

But this latest beta of iPhone OS 3.1 came with the bad news that it fixes that hack. So, in iPhone OS 3.1 hacked tethering is disabled. If you want to keep using your hacked tethering feature then stay away from iPhone OS 3.1.

AT&T plans to provide an official tethering solution later this summer, but will certainly require an additional charge beyond the standard data plans.
