The point releases such as iOS 12.1 are meant to polish the existing iOS 12 feature and provide stability and performance improvements. The company is eyeing some the prominent bugs that latest iPhone users have been experiencing since its launch.

Some of the known new features added to the iOS 12.1 beta includes 70new Emoji characters.

More than 70 new emoji will be coming soon to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac, including new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, a new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces and additional emoji representing animals, sports and food. The new emoji are available in today’s developer and public beta previews of iOS 12.1, and will be available in upcoming software updates for iOS, macOS and watchOS.

The latest beta of iOS 12.1 also includes a fix for iPhone and iPad not charging after updating to iOS 12. Other new addition to the mix includes group FaceTime calls – which allows users to chat with up to 32 people at once with the video calling feature. iOS 12.1 is also meant to bring iCloud sync for Memoji. Apple is also going to enable the eSIM feature with iOS 12.1, but the wireless carrier will also need to push an update from their end to support the eSIM feature.

If you are a registered iOS developer, you can download and install iOS 12.1 beta 2 as an Over-the-Air (OTA) feature. You can do that by going to Settings > General > Software Update. For that, your device must have a developer or Public Beta Tester profiles properly setup on your device. If you don’t have that you should check out our guide on installing the iOS beta.
