People love to have their iPhones closer to themselves. However, with an increasing number of different types of personal gadgets that connects with the iPhone including the iPad and the Apple Watch, the iPhone had become more of a “base station” for all these devices. Which also means that it has become very easy to lose track of your iPhone’s location. You know it’s in your office or the home, but not sure where exactly. Such situations result in a few minutes of frantically looking for your handset before heading out the door. But, there is an easy and quick way to locate your iPhone and that’s using Siri.
Use Hey Siri Feature
iPhone 6 or new models support the Hey Siri functionality. If you have one such model, you can simply say “Hey Siri, where are you” and the Siri will answer your question and say something in return. It can be anything, a snarky joke (typical of Siri), or something that may lead to the location of your iPhone. As soon as the Siri would start talking, it will become easier to find your iPhone as long as you’re in the same room, home, or the office.
What if your phone is set at a volume too low? Fret not, simply say something like “Hey Siri, set a timer for 5 seconds.” If your phone is nearby, Siri would make your phone start buzzing in 5 seconds.
If the above-mentioned ways are not working for you, you might not have set up Hey Siri feature when setting up your iPhone. You can enable Hey Siri feature by going to Settings > Siri & Search > Listen for “Hey Siri.”
Other ways to locate your iPhone
If somehow Siri failed to work for you or you have not enabled the feature, there are more ways to find your iPhone in a matter of few seconds.
Find my iPhone: Login to icloud.com using your Apple ID on your computer. Go to Find my iPhone section and ping your device. Your iPhone should start buzzing at maximum volume. This will work even when you and the iPhone are not in the same area.
Apple Watch: If you have an Apple Watch, go to Control Center by swiping up and then tap on Ping my iPhone button. Your connected iPhone should start buzzing even if it was set on the silent mode.
While Siri falls way behind its competitors such as Google Assistant when asked some knowledge-based questions. However, Apple’s virtual assistant is very reliable for specific things you do on your iPhone. The tasks such as drafting a message, calling someone, changing settings, reading you the news, adding something to your shopping list can be performed using Siri reliably.
