Rumors of Apple planning to launch iPhone Se refresh in the first half of 2018 have been around for quite some time now. Apple launched the first 4.0-inch iPhone SE two years ago which was received very well by its own set of takers due to its smaller form-factor that packs a sheer amount of power inside it. The latest rumor related to iPhone SE 2 claims that the device will feature a glass back to support wireless charging.
iPhone X, iPhone 8, and the iPhone 8 Plus are the first iPhone models to get a glass back to support wireless charging. Ay charger capable of Qi wireless standard works with these devices. A glass back on the iPhone SE 2 would mean that it will also feature Qi wireless charging similar to the latest crop of iPhone models.
The first iPhone SE model carries a aluminum back with a glass strip at the top and the bottom of its back. On the front end, the iPhone SE 2 is rumored to continue the traditional glass design without any major change. While the iPhone SE 2 is unlikely to bring any major visual change, the addition of the glass on the back will make it resemble the iPhone 8.
Hardware wise, the iPhone SE 2 is rumored to feature powerful internals. The rumor hints at the use of an A10 chipset which Apple introduced with the iPhone 7 in 2016. Given the small 4-inch display with a lower resolution, the A10 chip should make the device very powerful. The smartphone is said to feature 32GB and 64GB storage capacities.
The iPhone SE is primarily targeted towards those who prefer to have a smartphone with a compact form factor. Another plus point for Apple is that iPhone SE enables the company to compete in the budget segment of the smartphone industry such as Indian market where people are very price conscious. Apple has even set up its assembly line in India for iPhone SE that helps her in certain tax cuts. This is how the iPhone SE is the cheapest iPhone available in the country where it does well in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.
