Apple releases first iOS 9.2 beta to developers

Apple has just released the first iOS 9.2 beta to the registered iOS developers. You can download iOS 9.2 beta for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch from Apple’s developer center if you are registered member of the development program.

Apple has seeded the first beta iOS 9.2 just a week after the release of iOS 9.1 software update which brought 150+ new emoji characters including middle finger, unicorn head and more, check out iOS 9.1 new features. iOS 9.2 beta 1 carries a build number 13C5055d.

The official release notes reveal that the iOS 9.2 brings several bug fixes, enhancements and performance improvements. The Safari View Controller has seen some enhancements making it more like the standalone Safari. Safari View Controller is the new window that opens up when a link in some apps is clicked. The third-party Action Extensions will now work with it in iOS 9.2.

  • SFSafariViewController now supports 3rd party Action Extensions. Any Action Extension that
    works in Safari will also work in SFSafariViewController.
  • Long tapping the Reload button in Safari View Controller now gives options to Reload Without
    Content Blockers and Request Desktop Site, like in Safari.

iOS 9.2 is compatible wth all the devices capable of running iOS 9.1:

  • iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2
  • iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini
  • iPod Touch 6g, iPod Touch 5g

Jailbreakers should stay away from iOS 9.2 beta release as there is no iOS 9.1 jailbreak or iOS 9.2 beta jailbreak.

You can download iOS 9.2 beta IPSW files for iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch from the Apple Developer Center. A public beta of iOS 9.2 beta 1 is also expected to be released soon.
