Apple unveiled iOS 9, the next major mobile operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Here’s the list of devices compatible with iOS 9 software. Please note that final version of iOS 9 will be shipped later this year alongside new iPhone models.
With every major iOS version, Apple is known for dropping support for older iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models, but iOS 9 is different in this regard. Apple’s upcoming iOS 9 mobile operating system will support all those iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch models that were supported by last year’s iOS 8, with some features available on newer devices only.
Here’s the list of devices Apple is going to make compatible with its upcoming iOS 9 firmware later this year:
- iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 4s
- iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4, iPad 3, iPad 2
- iPad mini 3, iPad mini 2, iPad mini
- iPod touch 5g
While Apple has not dropped support for any iOS 8 compatible device in its latest iOS 9, some of the features that’ll be part of iOS 9 will only be available on latest device, not on the older devices.
