Apple has officially announced the “Apple Watch” during the media event today, held at the Flint Center for the Performing Arts in Cupertino, California. The main feature of Apple Watch is its main input method dubbed as the Digital Crown. It gives you quick access to the home screen, or you can twist it to zoom in. It has a touchscreen and can be swiped upon to glance through the information you need.
The display is protected with sapphire glass, which can distinguish between “tap” and a “press”, where the press works as a right-click options for the active element on the display. Apple calls the press, or right-click option for the watch, “force touches.”
Apple has created 6 different straps for the watch that connect to the body with a specific slot, which makes changing straps a breeze. Apple has announced two variants of the Watch, three casings, numerous straps and smaller matching bands for the watch.
Apple Watch requires you to have a compatible iPhone with you. There’s a “taptic engine” built within the watch used to make subtle vibrations against notifications. You can respond to notifications, such as answering or declining a call, replying to a message, by swiping up from the bottom of the watch’s screen.
Apple Watch don’t offer any keyboard interface. It can transcribe a message for you, and you can also respond to a message via voice command. Siri and Emoji support in built into the watch.
The watch can also access your photos, which can be zoom-in or our using the Digital Crown. There’s also a dedicated button on the watch for “digital touch,” an application allows you to connect with other Apple watch users.
Alongside the watch, Apple also announced WatchKit for developers to let them built 3rd-party apps for the Watch. A built-in workout application can measure distance, duration and calories the person burns. The device will also work with Apple Pay.

Apple has announced a price of $349 for the Apple Watch and it will be launched in early 2015, but didn’t give an exact date of launch.
