As we’re approaching closer to the unveiling on iPhone 6, more and more rumors are surfacing now and then. The iPhone 6 has become most awaited apple product of the year. When most of the reports and rumors has pointed toward same megapixels camera for iPhone 6 as found in iPhone 5s, but with a better image stabilization and improved lenses, this latest report claims that Apple’s next generation iPhone, the iPhone 6, would come with a major camera improvement. A post on Chinese Sony enthusiast forum Digi-Wo , via G for Games states:

The Exmor IMX220 features a 13-megapixel, 1/2.3” sensor and can record videos in 1080p. The sensor would also be a sizable improvement over the camera currently in the iPhone 5s, which uses an 8-megapixel, 1/3.2” sensor.

Camera has now become a major concern while selecting a smartphone. And when it comes to megapixels competition, android is far ahead. Today’s smartphones have replaced the digital cameras. Samsung has featured great camera sensors in its Galaxy smartphone lineup which is why it’s very popular and gives Samsung an edge over Apple. Back in days rumors suggested that the iPhone 6 would be equipped with a same 8 megapixel sensor as in the current iPhone 5s with an improved image stabilization for the clarity of photos. A previous report also suggested that optical image stabilization which would only be feature in 5.5’’ iPhone 6 while 4.7’’ iPhone 6 would come with an improved lens module.

It’s worth mentioning here that Sony is also set to feature same sensor in its Xperia Z3. But one thing that makes this report doubtful, is that Apple is known to push camera improvements in ‘s’ models, such as iPhone 4s, iPhone 5s.

To attract more consumers Apple definitely has to improve the camera to compete its counter parts. To see what apple comes up with the new iPhone 6 we would have to wait until Apple unveils the iPhone 6.
