In 2012, a mysterious store surfaced the web as an eBay store that only sold the apple products at prices even lesser than those of Apple’s own online re-furbished store. It was thought that the store was being run by Apple itself. However, the company never claimed the store to be their own. Then the store disappeared last year.
One such Apple store on eBay has once again launched quietly, reports AppleInsider. The store is named as “Factory Outlet” and this time it’s selling “Apple Certified” iPhone 5 devices. Since the next generation iPhone (iPhone 6, iPhone Air?) is around the corner and majority is holding off from making iPhone purchase, the eBay store seems like an Apple attempt to boost iPhone 5 sales or clear the inventory.
The new eBay store is selling most of iPhone 5 variants including.
- 64GB White iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $499 $350 off MSRP
- 64GB Black iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $499 $350 off MSRP
- 32GB White iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $479 $270 off MSRP
- 32GB Black iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $479 $270 off MSRP
- 16GB White iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $449 $200 off MSRP
- 16GB Black iPhone 5 (Factory Unlocked for GSM) for $449 $200 off MSRP
All the iPhone 5 units are Apple certified and come with one year Apple warranty. Which indicated that Apple might directly be involved in this, however, eBay Factory Outlet doesn’t directly say that it’s being run by Apple. All the products are being sold at an average of $250 less than the the new unit price.
On the other hand Apple’s official refurbished site is not selling any iPhone 5 or any other iPhone model on list.
