Apple’s Beats Acquisition Seemingly Confirmed by Dr. Dre

Apple is set to acquire Beats electronics in a deal worth $3.2 billion. The deal has not yet been made official by either party, but signs are there confirming this is indeed in motion. The legendary hip-hop producer and one of the founders of Beats electronics has shown up on a new video where he boasts about being the “the first billionaire in hip-hop.”

Actor Tyrese Gibson posted a video on his Facebook page congratulating hip-hop star Dr. Dre on the acquisition. No only that, but Dre himself appears on film boasting about being “The first billionaire in hip-hop, right here from the motherf**king West Coast.” The post has now been deleted, though it’s still available on YouTube.

Gibson said, the video was shot in a studio with Dre “on the night his deal went public” to be acquired by Apple for $3.2 billion. The good Dr. Dree seemed to be in a celebratory mood following the deal.

You can watch Gibson’s full video below, which contains a very-not-safe-for-work language. So, proceed to watch the video if you’re not easily offended.

If this deal goes through, Apple would not only take control of Beat’s premium headgear accessories, but also the Beats Music on-demand streaming service. It would appear a wise move to take over a music streaming service to compete against the likes of Google Play Music and Xbox Music, since Apple has heavily invested in the music indUstry. It’ll be interesting to see what Apple plans with Beats under his umbrella after the deal goes through.
