Apple has introduced a new iPad mini with Retina Display today at an event held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The iPad mini 2 not only packs the much needed Retina display, it also includes quite a few features we’re quite familiar with such as A7 64-bit processor. iPad mini 2 Features
Retina Display – The new iPad mini comes with a Retina display, which means it packs 4x the pixels as compared to its predecessor in the same size display. It has a 7.9-inch display with 2048×1536 resolution and over 3.1 million pixels.
Thin and Light Design – Despite all the new features and Retina display introduction, the new iPad mini 2 is still thin and light as its predecessor. It’s just 0.29 inch thin and weighs less than three-quarters of a pound.
Chipset – Just like iPad Air, the new iPad mini comes loaded with Apple-designed A7 chip with 64-bit desktop-class architecture. That means up to 4x the CPU speed and up to 8x the graphics performance for everything you do. It also incorporates M7 coprocessor.
Battery – Even though the iPad mini 2 has a retina display and features faster A7 processor and M7 coprocessor, still it gives the same 10-hours battery time. It’s because A7 processor is not just powerful, it’s very efficient as well.
Better connectivity – iPad mini 2 features Ultrafast WiFi and support for more LTE bands. It features two antennas for WiFi and MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) technology. The speed can reach up to 300 Mbps.
Camera – iPad mini with Retina display features a FaceTime HD front-facing camera. It has a 5MP iSight rear camera and captures 1080p video.
Color Options – iPad mini with Retina display comes in two color options: Space Grey and Silver.
Storage options – 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB
iPad mini 2 Price
The iPad mini 2 with Retina display is a bit expensive than the first generation iPad mini due to the Retina display.
WiFi Model – 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB – $399, $499, $599, $699 respectively.
Wi-Fi + Cellular model – 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB – $529, $629, $729, $829 respectively.

Apple has announced the availability of iPad mini 2 later in November.
