Earlier this year, BlackBerry had announced that its popular messaging platform will be available for both the Android and iOS. Then it sent BBM beta for iOS invites in the first week of last month.

In fact, the app was submitted to the app store two weeks ago, which means it’s up to Apple now when will the BBM for iPhone app be available in the app store for download. It’ll be interesting to see what happens here, as Apple has history of rejecting popular releases.

BBM iPhone app and its Android variant are said to be very similar to the BlackBerry version running on BlackBerry Z10, but lacks a few unspecified features.

The launch of BBM on multiple platform comes at an interesting time when the company is struggling to sell its devices and rumor has it that the company may spin off the service into its own firm.

We’ll update you as soon as the BBM app for iPhone hits the app store. Keep in mind that BBM messenger will not support iPad at launch.
