Google Acquires Snapseed, the Instagram Competitor

Google has been going after the popular iOS apps for acquisition lately. In their latest move, Google has acquired Snapseed, a popular iOS photography app. Nik Software, the creators of the Snapseed iOS app, have announced their acquisition by Google.

We are pleased to announce that Google has acquired Nik Software. For nearly 17 years, we’ve been guided by our motto, “photography first”, as we worked to build world class digital image editing tools. We’ve always aspired to share our passion for photography with everyone, and with Google’s support we hope to be able to help many millions more people create awesome pictures.

Before this Google has already acquired some popular iOS titles such as QuickOffice and Sparrow. Google is obviously acquiring successful iOS developers to fill in gaps in the Play Store makretplace for Android.

Snapseed for iOS is a photo app to enhance, transform, and share photos. It’s available in the App Store for $4.99. [Download Link – iTunes]
