RedSn0w and Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Updated to Fix Launchctl Error

iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak has been released in the form of RedSn0w (by iPhone Dev-Team) and Corona 5.0.1 Untether (by Chronic Dev-Team). There have been reports of folks having a Launchctl error. So, Saurik and the iPhone Dev-team has updated RedSn0w and Corona iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak to fix the “Launchctl Error”.

This is what Saurik tweeted about the fix for Launchctl error:

Corona (5.0.1 untether) apparently breaks `launchctl`; @planetbeing figured out what caused it, and I patched the package: upgrade to 1.0-2.

The launchctl issue also affects you if you used redsn0w to install the 5.0.1 untether. I have built 1.0-3, which can upgrade redsn0w users.

and here’s what iPhone Dev-team posted about the updated RedSn0w 0.9.10b2:

The b2 version of redsn0w includes the launchctl-related fix by @planetbeing as mentioned by @saurik. As usual, you can just re-run redsn0w in jailbreak mode over your existing 5.0.1 jailbreak (even a PwnageTool one), making sure to de-select “Install Cydia” if you do. Always be sure to do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w.

If you are one of those jailbreakers facing Launchctl error, simply go to Cydia install/update Corona 5.0.1 untether or use RedSn0w 0.9.10b2 to re-jailbreak without selecting Cydia. Detailed guides can be found here:

previous version of redsn0w didnt worked for my 3GS niether corona so i restored back to tethered with custom made sn0wbrezze ipsw and now this updated version of redsn0w comes out so my question is:
can i run this tool on my 3GS even if 5.0.1 is installed with custom made sn0wbrezze ipsw?

…i just cant restore it 100 more times again like yesterday when i tryed all tricks and who knows what to get this untethered jailbreak and nothing worked on my phone, every time i finish with tethered or boot-loop…

Have you tried a custom redsn0w firmware? Is the phone new or old bootrom? I’m assuming it is new bootrom if you say it is tethered.

i discovered that appsync is the one that broke my untethered state… same ting hapens on redsn0w jailbreak or when i use corona with sn0wbreeze ipsw installed so im tethered until they update appsync…

I need help! I have an iphone 4 gsm version 4.2.1 (oc148) and my modern firmware 015900. I followed all of the steps on how to jailbreak with redsn0w, I downloaded the iPhone3,1_5.0.1_9A405_Restore.ipsw for windows and redsn0w_win_0.9.10b3.zip. I also created the custom firmware. Everything was okay until now, but when I opened itunes to restore it starts doing it but after a couple of minutes an error appears (error 11) and it doesn’t finish. Can somebody tell me what is going wrong?

I have an Iphone 3gs on 4.1. I jailbroke it over 12 months ago but recently the phone has been playing up. It seems to crash and reboot randomly.

As I didnt want to mess up the jailbreak I have’nt updated it or done anything with it.

Does anyone think that the outdated software could be causing the issues Im experiencing?

Thank you

I know that there is only a jailbreak for iPhone 4 on iOS 5.01 not for iPhone 4s but what would happen if I try to jailbreak my iPhone 4s with red snow even though it’s for iPhone 4 my iPhone 4s is running iOS 5.01

Tried to update my iPhone 4 and iPad 1 to 5.0.1 from 4.3.1. Ran the update/jailbreak (used redsnow) and it seems like the update went ok…

However, after it did the jailbreak when it goes to reboot the device, both my iPad and iPhone do the same thing. The apple logo appears, sits for about 1 min, then recycles and repeats. Can’t get either device to boot up and I have no idea why it’s doing that… anyone have an idea and/or suggestion? Thanks
