Pod2g, ex-Chronic Dev Team member, tweeted out that he has found a bug that will untether jailbreak iOS 5. In case you don’t know Pod2g, he’s the one behind the famous SHAtter exploit that was held back due to Limera1n jailbreak. SHAtter was patched in the A5 devices and therefore, never released.
Before this, MuscleNerd of the iPhone Dev Team shared iPhone 4S jailbreak screenshots and a video demo for the iPad 2 Jailbreak on iOS 5. At this point both the iPhone Dev and Chronic Dev teams are at a preliminary step but still a major achievement towards iOS 5 untethered jailbreak.
There’s no ETA for these exploits/bugs, however there are now three well-known parties working on iOS 5 untethered jailbreak which is indeed a great news for the jailbreak community.
