It does work if you have an ios 4.x baseband and then preserve it while updating to ios 5 by following the above guide..

M using Gevey on ios 5 after preserving baseband at 03.*.*… Works like a charm…

@Soul – I did the same thing and it did not work. I reinstall iOS5 several times and I never got a message where it says “accept” gevey sim thing at the beginning. Even went to SIM Applications under “Phone” setting but I did not see different languages to choose from. I have 2.10 BB on i4. I had to go back to 4.3.1 to use gevey sim. If anyone knows what I am doing wrong, please let em know. WOuld love to have iOS5 on my phone. Thank you.

this JailBreak is untethered or tethered ? for iphone 3gs old baseband???

terminator October 17, 2011, 5:49 am

Old BB is not a matter, it dependent on boot-rom model.
if U have a old boot-rom model then U can untethered JB.

The fact that now the Windows version of RedsnOw is released.
Can we safely Jailbreak and preserve our baseband with the unlock as far as the baseband is supported on 3GS?

Hi, I have an unlocked iPhone 4 with Gevey SIM. I wanted to update to OS 5 so I downloaded the iPhone3,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw and when I follow instructions in Step 1, I get the following message and nothing happens: Unable to parse IPSW. Are you sure it’s really IPSW? The only option is to hit OK. I do that and nothing happens. I made a search for NO_BB file hoping it did create it regardless, but no success. Please help

thx

BGladNYC December 1, 2011, 4:17 am

Hi, I completed the Steps 1 and 2, and even after getting the phone in the DFU mode, I get an error message from iTunes saying this phone is NOT eligible for the requested build… Any suggestions? This happens after the iTunes “verifies with the server”…

Thx

Huge Problem and I need help. I was getting ready to jailbreak my wifes phone. Told her what I was doign, she wanted to help. I told her the next step was to download ios 5.0.1 on the phone. However, I forgot to tell her that she needed to backup the baseband. So, she downloaded the new ios and well, didn’t backup the baseband. Now when we go to iTunes it states: “The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported.” We were using i.o.s 4.3.5 with the Gevey Sim on T-Mobile. Please, tell me that we have options like finding a backup of the baseband somewhere on the internet or the ability to rollback to the old restore that i did prior to (just in case i effed up at all).

Perfect_Storm February 1, 2012, 7:21 am

Nevermind, fixed the problem. Thanks, feel free to delete my comment.
