Apple seems to have enabled AirPlay mirroring for FaceTime in iOS 5 beta 3. It means that in iOS 5 beta 3, during a FaceTime Video call you can mirror your video call onto an Apple TV 2G hooked up bigger screen.
TiPb reports that “The ability to easily start a video call and beam it onto the big screen is compelling. Whether it’s grandpa and grandma, or the team in England, it takes FaceTime from a small, personal experience to a big, group experience at the touch of a button.”
AirPlay mirroring for FaceTime, if makes into the final release, will be fantastic for families and businesses alike. However, this feature was not mentioned at WWDC where Apple announces the iOS 5 with 200+ new features.
FaceTime was first introduced in iPhone 4 and then iPod Touch 4G, the Mac and then iPad 2. AirPlay was first introducs in iOS 4.2. It allows you to wirelessly stream your media to any other airPlay supported device.
Lets hope that the FaceTime mirroring feature makes its way into the final iOS 5 release. It’ll surely encourage services like skype, and Fring to update their apps with the same feature.
