Check the Update below.* Now it really is magical, MuscleNerd, a respected member of iPhone the Dev Team confirms that they have successfully jailbreak iPad with Spirit, the iPhone 3.1.3 jailbreak by comex. The Dev Team has ported Spirit jailbreak to iPad 3.2 with a cross-team effort with Chronic Dev Team, comex and chpwn.
Comex developed the Spirit jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3 using an exploit found in the mobile Safari and luckily the same exploit exists in the iPad OS 3.2. So, expect iPad 3.2 jailbreak soon and get ready to jailbreak iPad and unleash its full potential.
Comex jailbreak “Spirit” for iPhone 3.1.3 is a userland jailbreak, meaning that you’ll point your browser to a certain website and your iPhone will be jailbroken. As the Spirit is ported to iPad OS 3.2, we can assume the same jailbreak way for the iPad as well.
Checkout the video below which demonstrates that the hacker has obtained root access on iPad firmware 3.2 with Spirit Jailbreak, which means iPad jailbreak is in development and will be out soon.
There’s no word on ETA of Spirit but we can expect it with the release of iPad 3G model in the end of this month. This makes sense because they don’t want Apple to patch it with a firmware update and then find a new exploit for iPad 3G…
