There’s is a way to Unlock iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 but it’s a hardware unlock. Folks from a Turkish shop have managed to successfully unlock iPhone Baseband 05.12.01. They have posted a video demonstration (posted below) on hardware unlock for iPhone 3G OS 3.1.3 with Baseband 05.12.01.
Update: UltraSn0w 0.93 is Out Now! It can unlock all basebands for iPhone 3GS and 3G. (Check the Updates at the bottom)
The Turkish Guy unlocked iPhone 3G 3.1.3 05.12.07 baseband by a hardware flash. He downgraded the baseband by flashing it back to 04.26.08.
Don’t get your hopes high, it’s a hardware level unlock that can’t be done by everyone. Wait for the Dev Team or GeoHot to come up with an unlock for baseband 05.12.01. The guy has also mentioned his phone number in the video so that you may contact him when visiting Istanbul, Turkey and want to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 :p. Check out the video:
