CNet is reporting that they have received an email from a prominent iPhone app developer that he has updated his application and now supports iPhone OS 4.0.
iPhone OS 4.0 is imminent. At least, that’s the only conclusion I can draw from an e-mail I just received from a prominent app developer.
The message includes the following snippet: “Just wanted to give you a heads up that we’ve submitted an updated app for the new iPhone OS 4.0 software.”
This only means that iPhone firmware 4.0 is already in hands of selected developers so that they may update their application to support iPhone OS 4.0 before it’s official release or SDK announcement.
Apple is expected to release iPhone OS 4.0 on it’s special media event rumored to be held on 27th of this month when Apple is also expected to announce it’s Tablet device.
What if it’s NOT a Tablet but an iPhone 4G loaded with iPhone OS 4.0? I think it’s the best time for Apple to release the new iPhone to compete the major threats to it’s smartphone market share; DROID and Nexus. To remind you, Apple announced the very first iPhone in the same month 3 years ago and now it’s already more than six months since the release of 3GS.
