Despite a slow start, the iPhone has captured a 46.1% of the smartphone market in Japan making it one of the top iPhone markets for Apple.
The research is conducted by a Tokyo-based research company Impress R&D. According to the report, iPhone 3G is the top device among smartphone securing 24.6% of the segment, closely followed by the iPhone 3GS which contributes another 21.5%.
iPhone was launched in summer 2008 in the Japan and now it has a user base of 3 million Japanese customers, which makes the 10% of global iPhone customer base.
