I used “iPhone1,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw” to restore (model A1203)”” to jailbreak/reactivate it. Asked me two files “BL-46.bin” and “BL-39.bin” (this was not in the website instructions. Had to use iTunes 8.2 (does not work with older 8.0.1 version). And at this time, my phone is being restored from previous backup.
Looking great. Thanks heaps.

I followed the steps for jail breaking for the I phone 2G with update of 3.1.2. It was successfully jail broken. But when I am trying to follow Unlocking steps. Cydia is continously crashing it is not opening. I am able to use I phone as Phone (Able to call & receive calls).& also earlier installed apps & data is available. Is there is need to unlock? Why my Cydia is crashing should i have to use other installer ? I am usually installing apps through laptop, Whether I need to use cracked apps patch, I am stuck here, Kindly Help me out.

iPhoneHeat November 7, 2009, 11:32 pm

If ur 2G was already unlocked before the process then you’re good to go.. skip the unlocking..
If you want to install cracked games then you need to install patch.. for purchased apps there’s no need to patch

Mack November 8, 2009, 9:47 am

Thanks for your reply, But I want to install application such as video editor and stuff like that which can only be installed through Cydia or such installer. After Jail breaking cydia is installed but it is crashing not opening now in this case what shall i do ? Should I go for another installer ? (Also FYI Cydia was crashing before Upgrading to OS 3.1.2 & Jail breaking ) Can you provide me some solution ? Thanks in advance.

iPhoneHeat November 8, 2009, 8:45 pm

Make sure upgrade your Cydia when it prompts you.. It fixes the issues like you’re facing
or use icy

Mack November 8, 2009, 9:08 pm

I can not upgrade cydia now because it is not opening itself. How to use icy ? what is it ? Also please refer my comment on patch for cracked apps/games forum as that is also giving me error. I have still not connected and synced with i tunes after upgrading to OS 3.1.2 and jail breaking.

iPhoneHeat November 8, 2009, 9:33 pm

Why not you perform a fresh restore and rejailbreak your iPhone.. after that first thing u do is let the Cydia update

Mack November 9, 2009, 12:49 pm

IPHONE HEAT IS THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i did what you told it worked excellent.

Thank you very much.

rick November 9, 2009, 8:46 pm

succesfully jailbroke 2g 3.1.2. bootneuter does not allow me to set the settings as shown. seems to lock. my lack of patience or something else?

iPhoneHeat November 9, 2009, 9:22 pm

have you ever unlocked your 2G before?
if you’re getting signals then there’s no need to install bootneuter..
and btw each time you run bootneuter the default settings will be displayed again..

rick November 9, 2009, 10:54 pm

never unlocked. currently at&t has miserable service for the last 21/2 years and willing to switch to tmobile. want to switch service but need to verify my iphone 2g 3.1.2 is indeed unlocked..

iPhoneHeat November 9, 2009, 11:10 pm

then simply open the bootneuter..
set the toggles as displayed in screenshot..
and hit flash button.. if it asks for reboot then reboot first and then try again..
flashing take a few seconds so be patient..

rick November 10, 2009, 1:48 am

thank you. apparently success this time, however, a long time asking me to wait while determining current settings after the success message. can i still sync through itunes with an unlocked iphone? to update apps, calender, contacts etc.? also, i have changed my settings to NEVER lock… is this correct? thanks again…you have been much help and quick response..

rick November 10, 2009, 1:51 am

i think i spoke too soon. iphone unable to find network and/or wi-fi..

iPhoneHeat November 10, 2009, 2:14 am

Reset Network Settings..

and yes you can sync jailbroken/unlock iPhone with iTunes and can do all the normal and abnormal stuff you do with locked one :p

askmedia November 10, 2009, 2:10 am

How long should this take. Also there is a problem with part of my screen. It wont let me change the settings to 4.6 Will that be a huge issue?

rick November 10, 2009, 6:00 pm

all steps have been completed. if i open bootneuter and check the settings they come up appropriately as shown in the window. however, i changed the at&t sim card with the new tmobile sim card and the iphone requests me to connect to itunes and only allows emergency phone calling. the tmobile carrier logo does appear in the upper left in place of at&t. i put the at&t card back in and all still works. I am waiting for some direction before allowing the tmobile to connect to itunes. should i go ahead and do it?

iPhoneHeat November 10, 2009, 6:10 pm

Tap the flash button from the bootneuter.. by setting the toggles as directed..

rick November 10, 2009, 6:23 pm

after tapping flash, bootneuter tells me there is nothing to do. the toggles already match. i think i am there with the unlock, just not reading the new tmobile sim card. i will try the new sim card again since the process seems to be complete. thanks for your continued support and prompt response.

iPhoneHeat November 10, 2009, 6:40 pm

ops… Did you Reset Network Settings after reboot?
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings

rick November 10, 2009, 6:54 pm

do the reset with the at&t sim card or the tmobile sim card installed? if with the tmobile, i can not access my home screen. i am resetting now with the at&t card installed.

mneal December 2, 2009, 10:49 pm

Did you ever fix this problem? This is the same problem I am encountering!!! Please help!!!

iPhoneHeat December 2, 2009, 10:59 pm

What’s the problem you’re facing mneal?

chris November 11, 2009, 4:04 am

I found a solution. I did everything with the 2g 3.1.2 firmware to unlock it but the bootneuter didnt work. SO:

Plug into computer and do a DFU restore (refer to google on how)

In itunes w/ phone connected hit SHIFT (KEY ON KEYBOARD) + RESTORE, and select the 3.0 .ispw (FIND it on google somewhere)

Then run REDSNOW 0.7.2 for WIN or MAC

Continue as instructed. Make sure you hit CYDIA and UNLOCK, not ICY.

Once redsnow is done. After reboot. I just put in a TMOBILE sim card and i got service no problems, works perfectly!!!!!!!!!!

pop November 11, 2009, 10:39 pm

If my 2G was previously unlocked using RedSnow is all I need to do is upgrade to 3.1.2 and run blackra1n… is that correct

Sorry for the lame question but I dont want to screw it up

iPhoneHeat November 11, 2009, 10:46 pm

yes.. upgrade> blackra1n if no signals > reset network settings..
Still out of luck? Install bootneuter November 13, 2009, 8:00 pm

recently i update os 3.1.2 in my iphone 3g from 3.0 but i can’t jailbreak and unlock my phone. plz give me a reliable source for unlocking and jailbreaking software. i use windows XP

qnguye November 20, 2009, 3:56 am

Question please – I have 2g upgraded to 3.1.2, jailbreak and unlock with blackra1n. Everything when well. After I ran blackra1n for jailbreak, it unlocked my phone also! when I installed bootneuter and ran it, bootneuter just showed then exit without allowing me to do anything. Is there some wrong? Second question – now as I look at my modem firmware it shows 04.05.04_G. Should it have gone to the 05 version since I upgrade to 3.1.2? Everything works ok so this is no big deal but I am just curious. Sorry for my ignorance and many thanks

iPhoneHeat November 20, 2009, 4:56 am

If you had already unlocked iPhone then there’s no need to install bootneuter after jailbreak 🙂

qnguye November 20, 2009, 5:20 am

Thank you so much for the advice. what about the modem firmware – should the modem got upgrade by 3.1.2 to the new firmware? Many thanks again. You are super!

iPhoneHeat November 20, 2009, 5:21 am

modem firmware doesn’t matter for 2G so forget abt it :p

I ordered used 2G from ebay. It’s on it’s way. Can I go through this jailbrake/unlock sequence while iphone is without service or do I need to borrow AT&T SIM card to do the jailbrake/unlock.

iPhoneHeat November 30, 2009, 12:34 pm

You can do it without AT&T Sim

fajahene2004 November 29, 2009, 10:47 am

I tried to unlock with instructions provided. Having said that, I am stuck in the same boat as “rick 10 November 2009 at 6:00 pm #” above: am only able to see the emergency call screen when i put the T-Mobile SIM in. Followed the instructions/suggestions provided to him but still no luck.

Images of how far i get with the SIM:

Please let me know what to do next

iPhoneHeat November 30, 2009, 12:28 pm

Jailbreak your iPhone with BackRa1n.. I don’t think that you need to install bootneuter then because you had an already unlock iPhone.. right?

mneal December 2, 2009, 10:53 pm

Did you figure out how to fix this problem? If so please help!!! Im having the same problem!!!

Let the Cydia update when you open it.. then search for bootneuter

Schwagg December 2, 2009, 12:48 am

I have a jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 2G on firmware 3.0 (7A341) with baseband 04.05.04_G. I want to make sure I’m doing the right steps since I don’t want to harm my baby.

1. Upgrade iTunes to 9.0.2 and install the latest firmware 3.1.2 on the iPhone (at this point my iPhone will only be able to make emergency calls and I will not have access to my home page, correct?).
2. After the iPhone reboots, I should download and run BlackRa1n RC3. From what I understand, this will require no input from me (other than click “make it ra1n”) and it will reboot my phone automatically. That should jailbreak my iPhone and it will put a BlackRa1n app on my springboard (which should now be available to me).
3. Run the BlackRa1n app and select Cydia. Since my phone is already unlocked, I shouldn’t need to unlock it, correct? However, I should install bootneuter from Cydia and run it if it is locked for some reason.

Does this method seem correct? Also, will I lose all of the apps that I currently have installed? Should I make a backup before and restore to that backup afterward? What about my pictures, music, settings, ActivateMMS2G, etc?

iPhoneHeat December 2, 2009, 1:21 pm

You got it absolutely Right!

@ apps & backup..
Backup is recommended.. after backup everything will be saved (pictures, music, settings, iTunes Apps) except Apps installed from Cydia.. you need to install them again..

stu December 3, 2009, 7:14 pm

Hi there,

I’m in the same position as Schwagg. I have an iPhone 2G (running 3.1.2, FM is 04.05.04_G). I’ve installed BlackRa1n OK. I’ve installed Cydia OK. I’ve also installed and run BootNeuter, and that worked too (or claimed it had).

I then inserted a Vodafone UK SIM card, and my iPhone tells me that “Different SIM detected”. So my phone can only make emergency calls – although it looks like it’s connected to the Vodafone network.

Like Schwagg, I’ve tried running BlackRa1n again, twice, to no effect. I still get the same message about “Different SIM detected”.

What am I doing wrong?! So close and yet so far… any help much much appreciated!

iPhoneHeat December 4, 2009, 1:09 am

Insert the SIM..
Put iPhone into recovery mode.. (press home + power button until iPhone reboots and iTunes and cable appear on the screen)
run blackra1n..

MMRQ December 7, 2009, 5:08 pm

Did you try this? I have 2g same as yours and would like to know if your steps worked for you. Please reply. Thanks

iPhoneHeat December 7, 2009, 5:53 pm

If you’re confused then you better try custom firmware which is as easy as performing a restore:

charliecj5 December 3, 2009, 10:32 am

I performed the jailbreaking process and downloaded Bootneuter. Ran it till the screen that it successfully finished. Then it will go to determining settings message and just hang there. I reset the network settings before and after reboot and have toggled between version 3.9 and 4.6 to get it to load again but no success! If I reboot the phone, it says searching… Occasionally on reboot it says no sim and whenever I insert my Cellular One sim it tells me I must connect to Itunes. Please help!

iPhoneHeat December 3, 2009, 2:38 pm

reset network settings

Schwagg December 3, 2009, 8:02 pm

Why doesn’t this method require the custom .ipsw files that other sites are saying is necessary?

iPhoneHeat December 4, 2009, 1:10 am

Custom ipsw was necessary before the release of BlackSn0w..
but not now..
but it’s true that custom firmware is the safest way to proceed. Here’s the custom firmware for 2G and other devices:

MMRQ December 7, 2009, 5:12 pm

iPhoneHeat December 7, 2009, 5:54 pm

follow the guide above or use custom firmware linked in another response to your comment

Did all of the above, however the signal is set to searching and doesn’t move an inch, please help!

iPhoneHeat December 8, 2009, 3:29 am

you need to reset network settings

MMRQ December 8, 2009, 8:37 am

Thanks IPhoneheat. Just wanted to share my experience.

I had the iphone 2g with OS 3.0 Unlocked and Jail broken. I downloaded the IPSW file for OS 3.1.2 and restored it using itunes and then used the blackra1n. Once it finished installing the blackra1n, my phone was jailbroken and Unlocked and it picked up my t-mobile service right away. I did not have to unlock the phone again. So this was pretty fast and quick for me. I checked the system and it shows me that I have 3.1.2 OS and itunes also confirms it. Hope this helps others.

Thanks Iphone heat. I now have to jailbrake and Unlock my refurbished iphone 3g S which i just bought. Any tips for that? let me know.

solution to the unlocking iphone 2g 3.1.2, after bootnueter.
1- install afc2add from Cydia.
2- Reboot iPhone
3- Download and run DiskAid on your computer:
4- In DiskAid, click on the bottom left and select “root”. Then on the folders go to: private –> var –> root –> library. There you will find a folder named “Lockdown”. Copy this folder to your computer to back it up in case things don’t work out.
5- Then click on “Delete from device”.
6- Restart your iPhone.

I had a question about this,I’ve read the comments and it’s been mentioned but I just wanna make sure before I go about doing this, cuz I dont want to do it twice.
When I got my iPhone 2g it had 3.1.2 installed I ran blackra1n installed bootneuter and I couldnt get it working, so i then downgraded to 3.0 and installed redsn0w and unlocked it, if I now upgrade to 3.1.2 and run blackra1n my iPhone stay unlocked?

iPhoneHeat December 14, 2009, 7:38 pm

You just need to jailbreak it.. if it’s already unlocked then simply reset network settings once jailbroken

Hi there , I don’t know if I’m using this right.
I have followed all the process above to jailbreak. The mistake I have made was I have unistalled blackra1n before installing Cydia. Now I can’t re-install blackra1n.I did try , but I don’t see the icon. Is there another way to install cydia?

iPhoneHeat December 20, 2009, 9:13 pm

simply restore the firmware 3.1.2 again and then run blackra1n

fallen66 December 24, 2009, 8:39 am

after jailbreak. iphone 2g wont activate.

iPhoneHeat December 24, 2009, 9:47 pm

If you’re stuck at emergency screen.. it means it’s not jailbroken..
try the blackra1n again

fallen66 December 25, 2009, 5:00 am

ok i tried it again. and again and still stuck in the emergancy screen. this is on a 2g i also tired it on my 3gs and same thing. what im i doing wrong.? thanks for the support! will def donnate

Why not try another USB Port or on another computer…
if it fails again (it should NOT) then you have custom firmware to try.. available under iPhone Firmwares category

I spent the weekend working on this. I have an iPhone 2g and I jailbroke and unlocked it following your instructions. I have done it numerous times but each time i insert a working at&t sim card either it locks me out (connect to iTunes or call for emergency) or it never finds the network. It stays searching. I am trying to use a working AT & T Sim. I have cydia and bootneuter on and working. I could not use redsn0w because it constantly said that the .ipsw wasn’t correct, but I did manage to jailbreak and then unlock….Just can’t get past the Searching or other times the Connect to itunes….Any suggestions? I have restored and re done many times
