Cases Cause iPhone 3GS Discoloration?

iPhone 3GS discoloration issue has become hotter than this summer. iPhone 3GS overheating issue was reported by a few users a few weeks ago and spread like the fire in Jungle. The issue worsened when Apple responded to this issue by updating their heat advisory guide. Which is perceived by some users as admittance of overheating issue by Apple.

Then Apple responded that they merely updated a technical document to cover iPhone 3GS. In this situation, a French iPhone site is claiming that it is NOT the iPhone 3GS overheating but  some iPhone cases dis-colorized the white iPhone 3GS when exposed to heat.

As per FrechiPhone: (Translated to English)

  • After numerous calls to Apple technical service and maintenance of contact with a level 3 (engineer) the problem seems to come not from a hot 3GS but contact with some covers! This was evident by ourselves on a device with a small sticker (a warning not to listen to music too loud) remained stuck, part of the hull below remained white.
  • A simple solution to the problem is to clean the back of the iPhone with alcohol, tested by myself I can confirm that it works and reassure you it is safe for your precious.

We havn’t heard of such issue with any of the previous iPhones. Then what’s the reason of this discoloration? Is it from within iPhone 3GS or the external things causing it? Let us know your thoughts in comments section.
