How to Uninstall Cydia Apps Directly from SpringBoard | Step-by-Step Guide

delete-appIf you own a jailbroken iPhone and have installed some apps via Cydia, you will notice that when you try to delete any app from your SpringBoard (Tap and hold on the icon) an “X” appears, where you tap and remove the app . But in case of Applications installed via Cydia, there will be no “X” with them (Screenshot available). You will need to go to

Cydia > Manage > Packages>find your targeted package > Modify > Remove > Confirm

to uninstall those apps. Now that’s the only bad thing about Cydia, I noticed.

But don’t worry, Now, CyDelete is out there for you. CyDelete solves the uninstallation problem with Cydia installed application and have brought much convenience to iPhone owners.

After installing CyDelete you will be able to remove Cydia applications directly from your SpringBoard the same way you remove App Store Applications (Tap and hold on the icon, it will start wiggling and then tap “X” that appeared on top-left corner).

CyDelete is available to download via Cydia for Free!

Open the Cydia from your iPhone SpringBoard.

On you SpringBoard, press and hold an app icon, all icons will start wiggling. Now you can see “X” is available for both App store and Cydia applications. (Before and after screenshot is available)

CyDelete is still in beta so we can expect crashes but so far it’s working fine on my iPhone.

Go get this handy app and don’t forget to share your views about it.

I have had similar issues but I resolved them by removing some apps installed through Cydia which was causing this. Do not Install or remove if you already have the following apps http://surreystore.com/cms/technology/7-apple/13-spring-board-crashing-on-iphone-4.html

try removing it from Cydia:

I tried this and have no problem downloaded Cydelete. However, when I hold down to the icon the screen only shake but no X on the top so I can’t delete it. What’s wrong? I only have the Terminal app that I want to delete and I don’t see it in the Packages so I can’t do it manually either. Please help.

I downloaded the cydelete after reading your post. It’s working fine on my iphone4 4.3.1 jailbroken phone. so far so good. No crashes yet both on my cydia springboard and or any of the above earlier comments. (crosses fingers as it’s my first time to jailbreak my iphone4)

the fixer May 27, 2011, 11:16 pm

My CyDelete not working to delete apps either. No “x” to press????
Is there another problem?

Mr Driving Lessons June 3, 2011, 8:55 pm

Thanks for this app, been annoying me for ages that I couldn’t just delete the Cydia apps from my phone. I only jailbroke it so I could have a custom background, this will help me get rid of the junk that’s been making my 3g crash.

Cheers

Try tapping twice (2x) quickly on the screen with three (3) fingers to zoom and use three (3) fingers to drag and postion it over the keypad allowing you to punch in the code properly.
