iH8Sn0w jailbreaks iPhone 3GS New BootRom on iOS 4 firmware with Sn0wBreeze. He shares a video demonstrating iPhone 3GS jailbreak on new bootrom running iOS 4 with an unreleased version of Sn0wBreeze jailbreak.

NOTE

This Jailbreaks iPhone 3GS New BootRom iOS 4 for now. [How to: check iPhone 3GS BootRom] ibooty, a special tool for rebooting used in this jailbreak, is not going to work on every device, its unique for every device.
You MUST have SHSH blobs saved for OS 3.1.2. The exploit used in this upcoming Sn0wBreeze hack has been patched in OS 3.1.3 so firmware 3.1.2 is a MUST.
We assume that it’ll be possible to jailbreak iPod Touch 3G iOS 4 as well provided that you’ve SHSH for 3.1.2 saved but there’s no word from iH8Sn0w on this.
It’s a tethered jailbreak. For those who don’t know, a tethered jailbreak device once turned off/Reboot/run out of battery, you need to connect it to computer and execute a tool to boot up the device.
There is no estimated time of arrival.

Jailbreak iPhone 3GS (New BootRom) iOS 4

If you have an iPhone 3GS old BootRom, you can jailbreak using Sn0wBreeze 1.6, PwnageTool 4 and then unlock iOS 4 on baseband 05.12.01, Baseband 05.13.04 and 05.11.07 using UltraSn0w 0.93.

Blacksn0w Unlock Ported to iPhone 3GS OS 4.0 [Video]

Blacksn0w, the unlock tool for iPhone 3GS, 3G OS 3.1.3, 3.1.2 with Baseband 05.11.07, has successfully been ported to iPhone 3GS running iPhone OS 4.0 beta 4. This Blacksn0w port to iPhone OS 4.0 is based on the original Blacksn0w unlock by GeoHot and the binaries provided by msft.guy.

Update: UltraSn0w 0.93 is Out Now! It can unlock all basebands for iPhone 3GS and 3G. (Check the Updates at the bottom)

This unlock iPhone OS 4.0 is demoed for iPhone 3GS running OS 4.0 beta 4 with Baseband 05.11.07. To unlock iPhone 3GS 4.0 with Blacksn0w, your 3GS 4.0 beta 4 must be jailbroken and baseband preserved at 05.11.07 with old iBoot (359.3).

The BlackSn0w unlock for iPhone 3GS OS 4.0 is kinda buggy ATM, you will have to reapply the patch files after each reboot. So, if you are not an experienced user, it’s highly recommended to stay away from this patch and wait for the dev-team to release unlock for baseband 05.12.01 which is expected as soon as the iPhone 4G along with iPhone firmware 4.0 comes out.

Apple Lost Another iPhone 4G Prototype – New Photos, Teardown, Video

Apple’s Next-Gen iPhone 4G is being considered the biggest leak in the history of Apple when Gizmodo got their hands on to an iPhone 4G prototype last month and reviewed it. It seems like the company well known for its secrecy for upcoming products has lost control over iPhone 4G prototypes and losing it right and left; this time next-gen iPhone has made its appearance on a Vietnamese site taoviet.vn with Photos, Video and the worst for Apple the teardown.

The Vietnamese site has posted a large gallary of iPhone 4G / HD photos along with video and teardown. The information posted there has something new to tell about this new prototype found. The individual who submitted the link to MacRumors stated that a Vietnamese businessman had bought it in the U.S. together with an iPad.

There are a few differences between the Gizmodo’s iPhone 4G and this one.

The latest leaked iPhone HD / 4G prototype has been turned ON, sporting an image of an explosion and the sign “Inferno” on the screen.
This prototype has no screws at the bottom which means it’s a newer prototype.
The back of this prototype shows that this is a 16GB model. The previous leak showed “XXGB” written on the back.
Teardown reveals an Apple branded A4 microprocessor similar to the one found in the iPad.

It seems like, it’s a more polished version of the iPhone 4G prototype as compared to the one reviewed by Gizmodo. As always, there’s a slight possibility that the device is a fake but looking at the photos, video and the teardown, it’s 99.99% the next iPhone. [via MacRumors, Engadget]

Android Running on the iPhone

Planetbeing, a member of the the legendary iPhone Dev-Team, has successfully ported Android OS to iPhone and yes! it works. Checkout the video posted below to see Google’s Android OS running on iPhone via OpeniBoot.

Currently the hacker is running android on a dual booting iPhone 2G (first-gen iPhone) but his goal is to run it on both the iPhone 3GS and 3G as well with future release to make Android a real alternative or supplement for iPhone users. He calls it “alpha quality” and “slightly buggy,” but “pretty much everything works.”

It should be pretty simple to port forward to the iPhone 3G. The 3GS will take more work. Hopefully with all this groundwork laid out, we can make Android a real alternative or supplement for iPhone users. Maybe we can finally get Flash.

iPhone OS 4.0 beta 2: Smooth App Switching Animation

One of the new features in iPhone OS 4.0 beta 2 is the smooth app switching animation for multitasking. In iPhone Os 4.0, you can switch between apps running in the background by double clicking the Home button. A horizontal swipe-able dock will appear from where you can select the app you wanna switch to.

Apple disabled the multitasking in both iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G due to lack of sufficient amount of RAM.

iPhone firmware 4.0 will be available to general public in summer when the iPhone 4G aka iPhone HD will hit the shelves. iPad users need to wait till Fall 2010 to install iPhone OS 4.0 on to iPad.

Note: Only iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G are fully compatible with iPhone OS 4.0. Multitasking and some other features won’t work on iPhone 3G or iPod Touch 2G. iPhone 1G and iPod Touch 1G aren’t supported with iPhone OS 4 at all.

Userland Untethered Jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3 [Video]

*Spirit Jailbreak is Out now. Check the Update below.* Comex has uploaded a video on YouTube demonstrating an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3. The iPod Touch 3G jailbreak video meets all the guidelines of a good jailbreak video as set by the MuscleNerd. (video posted below)

This untethered jailbreak is Web based (userland), means you just need to point your iPhone web browser to a certain site and it’s jailbroken! The hack seems to be based on the security hole introduced by the two hackers at Pwn2Own contest.

Userland exploits give rise to insecurity and Apple will push a new firmware update (iPhone OS 3.1.4 or iPhone 3.2) to close this exploit and on the other hand iPhone hackers don’t want to lose this chance :p So, a new untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3, iPod Touch 3.1.3 release seems to be imminent.

Before this GeoHot has also demonstrated an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3 and iPad 3.2.

GeoHot has done it again.. In his new blog post “Untethered Jailbreak“, GeoHot has demonstrated an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.3 and iPod Touch 3.1.3. The solution provides untethered jailbreak for 3GS, 3G, 2G, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 2G, 1G. GeoHot says that users may also be able to jailbreak iPad OS 3.2 with this untethered jailbreak solution.

GeoHot hasn’t given any specific date to release untethered jailbreak for iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPad OS 3.2. There’s no info on the exploit as well.

The jailbreak is all software based, and is as simple to use as blackra1n. It is completely untethered, works on all current tethered models(ipt2, 3gs, ipt3), and will probably work on iPad too.

Don’t ask about a release date. You won’t make it happen any sooner.

We can expect the release of this untethered jailbreak with the release of iPad loaded with OS 3.2 or may be when Apple pushes major firmware iPhone OS 4.0. Not to forget, GeoHot already has an exploit to unlock iPhone Baseband 05.12.01. He’s probably waiting for the new iPhone 4G and iPhone firmware 4.0 to release the unlock solution.

There’s is a way to Unlock iPhone 3.1.3 Baseband 05.12.01 but it’s a hardware unlock. Folks from a Turkish shop have managed to successfully unlock iPhone Baseband 05.12.01. They have posted a video demonstration (posted below) on hardware unlock for iPhone 3G OS 3.1.3 with Baseband 05.12.01.

Update: UltraSn0w 0.93 is Out Now! It can unlock all basebands for iPhone 3GS and 3G. (Check the Updates at the bottom)

The Turkish Guy unlocked iPhone 3G 3.1.3 05.12.07 baseband by a hardware flash. He downgraded the baseband by flashing it back to 04.26.08.

Don’t get your hopes high, it’s a hardware level unlock that can’t be done by everyone. Wait for the Dev Team or GeoHot to come up with an unlock for baseband 05.12.01. The guy has also mentioned his phone number in the video so that you may contact him when visiting Istanbul, Turkey and want to unlock iPhone 3.1.3 baseband 05.12.01 :p. Check out the video:
