Infiniboard, vertical icon scrolling tweak for iPhone by chpwn has been updated to version 1.1.2 and now supports Overboard (Springboard Expose).

Infiniboard let you vertically scroll your home screen pages. Using Infiniboard you can add as many icons as you want on each page, and access them through a flick up and down.

What’s new in infiniboard since the first release:

Support for OverBoard. Page moving support is broken, but that can’t be fixed on my end.

50,000 iPad Orders Placed in First Two Hours?

Now that Apple has started accepting iPad Pre-orders a few hours ago, analysts are watching closely for any sign of iPad Sales graph. Engadget came to a report which suggests that Apple is receiving iPad orders at a rate of somewhere near 20,000 orders per hour. The source estimated this sales figure by placing two orders 30 minutes apart which resulted in Order ID numbers approximately 10,000 apart.

Now, of course, we can’t be sure every order was for an iPad. Apple does sell other stuff. But at 8:30am in the morning on the east coast, my guess is that most of the orders were for iPads.

Fortune is also reporting in a more organized way that Apple received 50,000 orders for iPad in two hours, roughly in line with the earlier estimate.

“51,000 orders in two hours,” announced Victor Castroll shortly after noon. He’s an analyst with Valcent Financial Group and an AAPL Sanity member who, with the blogger-analyst who calls himself deagol, has been monitoring the spreadsheet.

Well these are just estimates and it may also include sales of other iDevices, although it is likely that iPad covers a very substantial portion of them are, given the excitement over Apple’s tablet device and previous launches.

Another thing worth mentioning is that these are not the number of iPad sold but the number of orders and a single order may include multiple iPads. However, Apple has restricted 2 orders max. per person but it certainly not eliminating this effect on the estimates, suggesting that 50,000 iPads in two hours may at least be in the ballpark.

Pre-order Your iPad Now!

Finally, the iPad pre-orders are live. Yes! it’s the day to pre-order an iPad but you won’t be taking home an iPad today.

Apple has started accepting iPad Pre-orders in the U.S. Apple Store. U.S. customers can pre-order any of Apple’s six iPad models (3 Wi-Fi and 3 Wi-Fi + 3G) beginning today. WiFi only models will be available from April 3rd and pre-orders are being promised for April 3rd delivery.Customers purchasing Wi-Fi + 3G iPad models will need to wait until late April to receive their orders.

EA Mobile has announced 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa for the iPhone and iPod Touch. FIFA World Cup 2010 game will hit the appstore next month, According to PocketGamer.

The guy at pocket gamer got a chance of a thorough hands-on with the game during an event at GDC showcasing the upcoming EA Sports line up.

During an event at GDC showcasing the EA Sports spring and summer line up, the game was playable.

Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to share any details about it until closer to its release, which has been set for April 27 alongside the console versions.

I can, however, tease you with the fact that I’ve had a thorough hands-on with the game.

Since the last installment was tagged with $9.99 so a similar price is expected for 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa which will be available on April 27 for both iPhone and iPod Touch.

iPad Preorders Begin March 12th, 5:30am PST

Apple will start iPad preorders from Friday, March 12th, at 5:30am PST (8:30am EST). TUAW received this iPad Preorders info from an Apple rep:

Customers can pre-order online at apple.com at 5:30am Pacific time on Friday, March 12.

If you live in US or live outside but have a US billing address and a credit card, you’re eligible to preoerder iPad otherwise wait for another month to get your hands onto this new sweet piece of tech.

Now you have an exact time to preorder iPad. So, get your credit cards ready and keep hitting the refresh button… Please note that Apple will start shipping iPad WiFi models from April 3rd and iPad WiFi+3G models will hit the shelves in late April.

Al named guy found the following mention of a “multitasking dialog box” in the latest SDK:

Don’t take this reference seriously because it may be pointing towards the current multitask functionality in applications like phone.app, iPod.app etc.

AppleInsiders also received a report from their reliable sources that multitasking is coming to the iPhone in OS 4.0.

People with a proven track record in predicting Apple’s technological advances say that the company has developed a “full-on solution” to multitasking for the iPhone OS.

Two New Gestures Coming to iPhone/iPad: Triple Tap and Long Press?

While digging deep into the latest iPad SDK 3.2 beta 4, 9to5mac found two new touch commands for iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch. These new commands in the gestures folder of the iPhone 3.2 Beta 4 SDK.

In the gestures folder, you’ll see two new types of commands (3Tap.plist and LongPress.plist) that are certainly not implemented in the current 3.1 iPhone SDK.

Apple is likely allowing developers to use these new capabilities, found in the iPhone SDK, in the next versions of the OS. Apple may even allow developers to use them in the shipping version of the iPad.

iDongle: Standalone Tethered Boot for Jailbroken iDevice

If you have an iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G or 2G and have jailbroken it on OS 3.1.2 then you would be familiar with the term tethered jailbreak.

In case you don’t know, tethered jailbreak means whenever you reboot a tethered jailbroken device it asks for a restore and stucks at connect to iTunes screen. The only thing you need to do is to connect your iDevice to your computer and run the jailbreak tool like BlackRa1n and RedSn0w it will take you to the home screen. You need to do this everytime you reboot.

What if you’re away from your PC and need to reboot a tethered jailbroken device? Here the little iDongle comes handy.

iDongle is a Standalone jailbreak and/or tethered boot for 3.1.2 devices (iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G). iDongle measures 60mm by 30mm, features a mini-USB and 30-Pin connector and is powered by a 9v battery and it takes almost 30 seconds jailbreaks your iPhone or iPod Touch.

How does the iDongle work?

Power-on your jailbreaked device
On iTunes logo, plug iDongle
Wait for leds to end flashing
Unplug iDongle or wait for boot

How do I know if my device is concerned ?
Any iPhone 3GS made after week 40 (2009). The week number is usually the 4th and 5th digit of the serial number. iPod Touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC” are concerned or any iPod Touch 3G.

Which device is supported ?
From now, iPhone 3GS and iPodTouch 2G/3G are supported, all with OS 3.1 / 3.1.1 / 3.1.2 only, but the later is recommended.

Will you support OS 3.1.3 ?
Maybe, or not. iDongle can be easily updated through USB. If jailbreak is available, I’ll try and post a free update.

Does it provide unlock ?
Not directly. Look for Geohot’s “sn0w” or Dev Team’s “ultrasn0w” package on Cydia.

Verizon Wants to Sell MiFi Data Plans to the iPad Owners

Verizon wants you to buy WiFi only iPad because they plans to sell you MiFi Data plans for internet access on the go against AT&T’s 3G service on iPad 3G+WiFi.

You’ll surely save $130 when you go for iPad WiFi only as compared to iPad WiFi+3G, sounds good.. but would you be convinced with a 5GB Verizon MiFi plan costing you $60 over “unlimited” AT&T data for $30? and not to forget, MiFi also has an advantage of using it for more than one devices simultaneously.

iPad launches in the U.S on April 3rd and pre-orders starting March 12th. iPad 3G model will be available in late April. So these are the choices you’ve got:

iPad-WiFi + Verizon MiFi (on April 3rd) + (advantage of using it for more than one devices simultaneously)
iPad-WiFi+3G on AT&T (Late April) + (Single Device only)

Watched the apple iPad ad aired during the oscars? Everything was so fast that you couldn’t even tell if the machine in the video was an iPad or a black photoframe. Someone at NeilCurtis.com has taken the iPad commercial aired during Oscars and clarified it.

The iPad Ad is slowed down to 15% speed to give you a much better idea of what’s going on. He also commented on some moments like switching models in mid-stream and how a graphic continues to move into text without any user intervention after the drag. Apple Pushes iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4 for iPad

Apple has released the 4th beta of iPhone SDK 3.2 for iPad. iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4 comes with updated tools for developing iPad apps. Apple is continuing the biweekly revisions since the last SDK update was released 2 weeks ago.

There’s no info on what’s new in iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 4 for iPad. We will keep you posted as there comes any update.

There Won’t be an iPhone-iPad Unified OS Till Fall 2010?

The Loop reports that Apple would not unify iPhone and iPad OS until Fall 2010.

iPad is set to launch on April 3rd and it will be running OS 3.2. It’s iPad specific firmware because it includes all the changes needed for iPad sized device and development purposes. On the other hand iPhone latest firmware is 3.1.3.

The next model iPhone 4G is expected to hit the market in June which, most probably, will be running the latest and greatest iPhone OS 4.0 plus redesigned hardware. iPhone firmware 4.0 will be a major firmware release like its predecessor OS 3.0 and will bring lot of new features

However, It doesn’t make sense for Apple to unify the two operating systems for 4.0 with the timeline they are working with.

Rather, I expect Apple to release OS 4.1 in September or October. It will not only address issues with the 4.0 release, but also unify the operating systems.

Steve Jobs has been busy answering emails. Earlier he confirmed that iPad won’t tether with iPhone in a response to a Swedish Apple fan. This time Steve responded to a GCN’s John Breeden disbelief that the iPad’s IPS display could support 10 hours of battery life in such a small form factor.

In a column of his, John Breeden showed his doubts about 10 hrs battery life and in return he received a lot of negative responses from Apple fans. Then he sent an email to Steve jobs to re-assure if iPad could support 10hrs of battery life and confirmed the authenticity of a comment signed as “Steve Jobs”.

I e-mailed him to say that I didn’t mean to imply that he was lying during his iPad presentation, as several people accused me of in their comments. People make presentations written by marketers all the time that are not 100 percent truthful, and it doesn’t make them liars.

This is what Steve Jobs sent in response to the above query from his iPad:

Sorry, wasn’t me.

And, yes, we are getting 10 hours in 1.5 pounds.

Apple announced the iPad release date yesterday and it’s set to be April 3rd. On the iPad introduction day, Apple also announced that iPad will support all the iPhone and iPod Touch apps OTB. iPad will be powered with 1GHz processor, 9.7 inches capacitive multitouch display and storage capacity of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. iPhone lacks a lot of most demanded features to date but jailbreak community offers iPhone users what Apple don’t. Once the user jailbreak iPhone using RedSn0w, PwnageTool, Sn0wBreeze or BlackRa1n, he can enjoys multitasking with ProSwitcher, iPhone customization with Winterboard, Google Voice, Stacks, Bluetooth transfers with iBlueNova and iBluetooth and much more. These are some of the features that Apple has not yet offered to the iPhone users.

Unfortunately, Apple has done the same thing to the iPad. iPad lacks Multitasking, Flash support, SMS/Calling features. Now the big question in all jailbreakers mind would be whether it is possible to jailbreak iPad or not? iPad used for demo was running iPhone OS 3.2 which is available for iPad only, not iPhone or iPod Touch. Since the iPad firmware is similar to that of iPhone, We hope that many iPhone hackers will attempt to jailbreak iPad as soon as it’s released. We also hope that many new hackers will surface the scene with the release of iPad.

Jailbreaking iPad depends on how hard Apple patches exploits used to jailbreak. Apple keeps on changing hardware and securing software to make it harder and harder for hackers to jailbreak firmware. It was apparent when Apple patched the 24kpwn exploit in newer iPhone 3GS and iPod touch model. With the new exploit found after 24kpwn exploit death, users were required to jailbreak their iDevices on each reboot, it’s called tethered jailbreak.

So, is it possible for Apple to completely block the iPad jailbreak? iPhone Dev-Team call it a Cat&Mouse play.. Apple patches an exploit and the hackers has always been able to find and use another exploit to jailbreak iPhone. At the very least we should be able to get a iPad tethered jailbreak.

Lets hope the Dev-Team, or GeoHot or someone new to the scene find an exploit and can get us an iPad jailbreak. We can only be sure of this once the iPad is out.
