In the most recent WhatsApp update, the company has pushed support for the larger display of iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. WhatsApp now offers native support for larger iPhone displays. It means, after installing this update, you will be able to see more conversations on your iPhone XS Max’s screen as compared to iPhone XS.
Before this update, there was no difference between the WhatsApp contents displayed on an iPhone X/XS and the iPhone XS Max. The users of both devices were offered the same amount of content on their screens despite the display size difference.
The new WhatsApp update also brings continuous playback of new voice messages. It means once a user taps the play button on a new voice message, all the subsequent new voice message will automatically continue to play one after another. It means, after this update, the user is not supposed to tap the play button on every new message to listen to it. Simply tap play on one new message and all the new voice messages after that will automatically be played.
The code of the new WhatsApp update also hints at the Dark mode coming to the application. According to WABetaInfo, the company is testing the dark mode feature for WhatsApp internally and it still is at its beta stage. So, there are high chances that the final version of the WhatsApp Dark Mode may look different than what we are seeing today.
The WhatsApp v2.18.100 update also adds a new UI for the Quick Action menu. Now we have more options to reply to status including documents, voice messages, and location. The company has also added a new notification extension to the WhatsApp which shows images, videos, and GIFs directly from a heads up notification. The notification extension is not yet enabled and we expect it to be turned on in a future update.
