Apple launched iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max during a media event last month. The former of these was released to retail stores on October 26th. Apple claims that all these devices feature the same front glass and claims it to be the most durable smartphone glass ever. On the rear, iPhone XR features the same glass company used in its last year iPhone X model.
The chassis of the iPhone XR is made of 7000 aluminum. While it is durable, it still is prone to dents and deforms easily with drops.
So, how does Apple iPhone XR performs in the durability test? Continue reading to find out…
In a durability test, conducted by YouTuber EverythingApplePro, the iPhone XR performs unbelievably well. He compared the device with iPhone 8 and the results are great when it comes to the durability of the iPhone XR which survived drops of various heights.
Last years’ iPhone 8 could not survive the drop from a height of 6 feet plus and its front panel broke. However, the iPhone XR successfully managed to survive the fall of the same height which clearly shows its improved durability over its predecessor.
The best thing happened during this test when iPhone XR survived a 10 feet drop to one of its edges with some scratches and scuffs. The back glass panel, however, could not survive the impact from the same height but the front panel performed remarkably well with no sign of damage.
What’s even more impressive is that the iPhone XR survived a 10ft drop to one of its edges with only a few scuffs and scratches. The rear panel did ultimately shatter from a 10ft height drop but the front panel remarkably remained intact with so sign of damage. It was only when the device was dropped face down from a 10ft. drop that the front panel also cracked.
the overall video conveys the message of iPhone XR being an extremely durable smartphone – perhaps more than the iPhone XS series of new models.
