The leaked iOS 11 GM build reveal that the upcoming iPhone 8 is codenamed ‘D22’ will feature a Portrait Lighting feature. The Portrait Lightning mode is going to be an upgrade to the existing Portrait mode. The upgraded feature will create depth effects using different lighting effects. These lighting effects include Stage Light, Studio Light, Contour Light, Light Mono, and Natural Light.

The feature will likely be launched under the beta program at least initially as Apple did in case of Portrait mode. This upgraded Portrait Lighting mode will likely make use of flash for the depth effects. The leaked iOS firmware also reveals that the upcoming iPhone 8 will be capable of capturing 4K videos at 60fps.

The firmware also points to an OLED display for iPhone 8. And just like the iPad Pro, it is going to be a Tru Tone Display capable of automatically adjusting the white balance according to the ambient light. There is also a hint of the display resolution being 1125 x 2436.

The OLED display will completely ditch the Home button and will feature a full-screen area and dynamic area at the bottom of each app denoted by the line as shown in the screenshot below.

Just like the leaked HomePod firmware, the leaked iOS 11 firmware also reiterates the notch display design of the iPhone. The firmware also confirms that Apple is going to name the facial recognition feature as Face ID, which is the same as found inside the HomePod firmware.

The leaked firmware also contains the clues about how Apple is going to make use of Power button in the absence of the Home button. the Power button is now called side button and will be used for interaction with iOS. For instance, you will be able to show Apple Pay cards and passes by double-clicking the side button just like on the Apple Watch. Press and holding the side button will invoke Siri. The side button will also be tied to many Accessibility features with double/triple presses.

Last but not the least, the firmware also contains a hint of a minor revision of AirPods coming during the event. The image found inside the firmware shows that the small change is going to be about moving the charging indicator to the outside of the case so that the battery status can be checked without opening it.
