Apple is widely expected to launch three different iPhone models this year. Two of these new iPhone models are going to be the iterative ‘s’ upgrade called iPhone 7s and the iPhone 7s Plus while the third model is said to be the 10th-anniversary edition called iPhone 8.
Lately, the rumors mill has gone quiet regarding the next generation iPhone models probably due to the EEDC event where Apple launch new iPad and an all-new iOS 11. Now that WWDC is long gone, one of Apple supplier has come out to confirm a couple of features meant to make their way into the upcoming iPhones.
According to a new report from Nikkie, Wistron – an Apple supplier, has confirmed that at least one of these three new iPhone models is going to have waterproofing and wireless charging feature.
Assembly process for the previous generations of [iPhones] have not changed much, though new features like waterproof and wireless charging now require some different testing, and waterproof function will alter the assembly process a bit,” Hwang told reporters after the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting on Wednesday.
The report, however, fails to pinpoint the device that’s meant to get these two new features in an iPhone. The iPhone 7s will probably get better waterproofing and perhaps will also get the wireless charging feature as well. However, the speculations remain doubtful whether the iPhone 7s will get these upgrades of not. Given the fact that the current iPhone 7 is splash and water resistant, Apple will probably improve it as well in this regard with next iteration.
As far as the iPhone 8 is concerned, like many previous rumors claimed, it is highly likely to get both of these new features. Apple has fallen way behind its competitors when it comes to launching an IP68-rated flagship phone
