Today, during the WWDC 2017 keynote, Apple unveiled an all-new 10.5-inch iPad Pro. The 10.5-inch iPad Pro has been in rumors for quite some time now and the company has finally announced it. Hit the jump to learn more about the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro.

Following months of rumors, Apple has finally introduced the 10.5 inch iPad Pro. Here are the key features of this new 10.5-inch iPad Pro along with specs, price and the release date.

Body and display

As expected, despite having a larger 10.5-inch display, this new iPad Pro comes in a size of a 9.7-inch iPad Pro, thanks to the minimized bezels around the display. The shrunken bezels have made it possible to fit a bigger display in a smaller body.The company says that the border of this new iPad Pro have been reduced by 40% and weighs just one pound.

The 10.5-inch iPad Pro gets a True Tone display, wide color gamut, low reflectivity, 600 nits of brightness (50% brighter), and HDR video. The new ProMotion feature allows the display to refresh at a rate of 120Hz which is double the refresh rate of the previous generation. This will make the motion “smoother, crisper, and more responsive” and would work better with Apple Pencil. In order to save power, the iPad is capable of adjusting the refreshed rate based on what you are doing. For instance, for a still image, it can go down to 24Hz

When turned to landscape mode, the 10.5-inch iPad Pro gets a full-size onscreen keyboard. The company has also introduced a full-size smart keyboard for this new iPad Pro. The keyboard will support over 30 languages including Chinese and Japanese. True Tone display, wide color gamut, low reflectivity, 600 nits of brightness (50% brighter), HDR video.

Chipset

With the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, the company has introduced an all-new A10X Fusion chip. it has 6-core CPU – 3 of which are high-performing one, and a 12-core GPU. This makes the A10X CPU 30 percent faster than the A9X and the graphics are 40 percent faster than the predecessor.

Cameras

Apple has introduced the same camera in its new iPad Pro that it featured in the iPhone 7. It is a 12-megapixel camera sensor with optical image stabilization. So we can expect stunning photos with the new iPad Pro. As far as the selfie camera is concerned, the new iPad Pro gets a 7MP camera on the front with f/1.8. It has auto image stabilization, wide color capture, and Retina flash.

Storage

With the latest 10.5-inch Ipad Pro, Apple has opted for doubling the storage capacity of the base model. Now the iPad Pro base model has 64 GB built-in flash storage capacity that goes up to 512 GB option.

Software

Apple’s latest crop of iPad Pro line comes with the iOS 10 at its launch, but it will be upgraded to iOS 11 later this Fall. iOS 11 is meant to bring great new feature exclusively meant for the iPad Pro models. Some of the new features for the iPad in iOS 11 are as follows:

  • You can pull the dock from anywhere
  • Slide an app up will give you Slide Over view
  • A new app switcher that preserve spaces with app pairings
  • Drag and drop feature for the iPad. You can drag images, URLs, and text.
  • File app for the iPad supports nested folders, spring loading, List View, Favorites, and Searches. It supports Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive and others.

Accessories

The new iPad Pro models now support USB3 and fast charging. A new leather sleeve from Apple will come with built-in storage for the Apple Pencil.

Price

Apple has priced its 10.5-inch iPad Pro with 64GB capacity at $649 while the bigger 12.9-inch iPad Pro will cost you $799 for the base model.

Release Date
