On Wednesday, the folks over at Slashleaks witnessed a new photo posted by a user which indicates that the next iPhone SE or the upcoming iPhone 7s (the LC-based models) could feature a strengthened Ion-X glass display, like the one found on some of the Apple Watch models.
The image posted on SlashLeaks was originated from a Chinese social media network Sina Weibo. The image allegedly depicts the outer glass casing and some of the manufacturing specification of 2017 iPhone model. The image reveals that the model is internally codenamed as “N79”. The post comes, however, fails to make it clear whether the strengthened Ion-X glass is meant for the iPhone 7s and iPhone 7s Plus or the next-generation iPhone SE.
The current models of both the iPhone SE and the iPhocomewith an aluminum shell. The image also shows cutouts on the back-casing, one probably for the single-lens camera setup and the other for the quad-LED True Tone flash light. Both the cutouts are aligned vertically.
If we assume that this leaked image is true, it probably shows casings for the iPhone 7s series. However, over the past few months, numerous reports and rumors have claims that the iterative iPhone 7s series will have an almost identical design to the iPhone 7 with the same aluminum back design.
It’s advised to take this allegedly leaked photo of the casing of an unreleased iPhone model with a pintch of salt. As sson as the image started circulating over the cloud, many Twitter users said that the two circular cutouts seem to have been doctored.
According to trustworthy KGI securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the 10th anniversary edition of iPhone (the iPhone 8?) could feature an iPhone 4 like “glass sandwich” design with a stailess steel frame. The analyst also beleives that the lenses of the dual camera setup on the back of the device are going to be aligned vertically.
