Leaked iPhone 7 case hints at dual cameras and stereo speakers

While Apple’s next crop of iPhone lineup is still six months away from its unveiling, an alleged case meant for the iPhone 7 has already leaked into the wild. The alleged iPhone 7 case hints at removal of 3.5mm headphone jack, dual camera system and stereo speakers.

The photos of the alleged iPhone 7 case are posted by prolific leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer on his twitter handle (@onleaks). There is no way to verify the authenticity of these leaked photos, but if its design is anything to go by, Apple’s next-generation iPhone model won’t feature the 3.5mm headphone jack found on all iPhone devices to date. In place of the headphone jack, now there’s a second speaker.

A look at the rear side of the case shows a much larger cutout for the camera, indicating a dual camera system is set to debut in iPhone 7. Other than these changes, the case looks almost identical to the ones available for the iPhone 6s, which makes this leak a doubtful one.

There are two things that make this leak a doubtful one. First, Apple is known for introducing a new design after an ‘s’ iPhone revision, but the leaked case suggests a design similar to the current iPhone 6s case and the second, while Apple may have finalized the design of the iPhone 7, it is highly unlikely for it to share its product design with case makers this early.

We have came across several iPhone 7 rumors to date and they indicate that the upcoming smartphone from Apple will have a waterproof design, a sleeker lightning port, dual camera system, and there won’t be a 3.5mm headphone jack to achieve a slimmer design. A recent rumor also claimed the handset to have the same dimensions as the iPhone 6s and will be 1mm thinner.
