Apple has finally launched its mobile payment service, the Apple Pay, in Canada. Apple Pay was launched back in October 2014 in the United States, and Apple has now officially confirmed in a tweet that company’s mobile payment service in now available to all the American Express cardholders in Canada.
Now any iPhone 6/6s or iPhone 6 Plus/6s Plus user running iOS 9.0 on their smartphone can use their device, or an Apple Watch paired with a compatible iPhone model, to make a mobile payment on any store that accepts mobile payments and support American Express. Initially, the American express cards issued in partnership with Scotiabank and those issued by the bank are not accepted at launch.
Customers can use the built-in Wallet app to add their card to Apple pay on their iOS device. Customers will be able to make in-app payments using an iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4, iPad mini 3, and iPad Pro. American Express Consumer, corporate or small business cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada are eligible.
As part of the Fraud Protection Guarantee, the card company ensures customers that its system keeps track of user’s spending and detects any unusual activity to avoid any kind of fraud. Products and prepaid cards, such as America Express Gift Card, cannot be used for Apple Pay in Canada.
