Rumors have been around for quite some time claiming that Apple will be launching a 4-inch iPhone model, often referred to as an iPhone 6c, along with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in the coming month.
A recent report suggested that Apple was planning to launch an iPhone 5c successor with a 4-inch display but in a metallic body like an iPhone 6, but later scrapped the idea. The report further read that there have been no clues of iPhone 6c in Apple’s supply chain since March. The plan is rumored to be pushed back into Summer 2016.
Evan Blass, who is known for his reliable leaks through his twitter handle @evleaks, has now tweeted that Apple may launch an iPhone 6c alongside iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
Some analysts claims that Apple will be launching iPhone 6c this year and it will be an extended version of iPhone 5s featuring similar hardware and metallic unibody case, rather than a plastic build as found in the iPhone 5c. It will be targeted towards folks on the budget.
Some expect iPhone 6c to be smaller sibling on an iPhone 6s and rather than aiming low-cost category, the device will be a premium product just like other flagship iPhones. That’s what iPhone 5c tried to achieve and failed miserably due to its aging hardware and missing key features such as Touch ID. many preferred to go for an iPhone 5s and pay extra bucks rather than buying an iPhone with low specs and cheap plastic exterior.
iPhone 6c, if it turns out to be smaller version of iPhone 6s, will be much more successfully than its predecessor as it will be targeting all those who wants the latest hardware from Apple but in smaller enclosure.
If the report turns out to be true, iPhone 6c will be joining the stage with iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus on the rumored September 9 unveiling date.
