iOS 8.4.1 beta 2 released to Developers

Apple has just pushed the second beta of its upcoming iOS 8.4.1 software for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch to the developers. If you’re one of those developers enrolled into Apple Developer Program you can download iOS 8.4.1 beta 2 from your iOS dev account.

The second beta of iOS 8.4.1 carries a build number 12H318 and comes two weeks after the release of iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 that continued to take iOS one step further after the public release final iOS 8.4 featuring an all new Music app and support for Apple Music and Beats 1 radio.

Just like any other beta releases for the point upgrade such as iOS 8.4.1, it remains to be seen what new changes are introduced through this update. Considering the first beta of iOS 8.4.1 which brought a host of bug fixes and performance improvements, this second probably do the same.

8.4.1 beta 2

It’s strange to note that Apple is pushing iOS 8.4.1 betas when it’s upcoming major mobile software update iOS 9 is already in beta phase. Many had believed that iOS 8.4 will be the last iOS 8 point update, but it seems like Apple is not yet done with iOS 8 and continues to fine tune iOS 8 experience and keeps its developers engaged.

Rumor has it that Apple has patched the exploit used by TaiG team to jailbreak iOS 8.4 through iOS 8.4 beta 1, though there’s no 100% confirmation of that as of yet.

iOS 8.4.1 beta 2 is compatible with all the devices capable of running iOS 8.4, it includes iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPad Air 2, iPad Air, iPad 4/3/2, iPad mini 3/2, iPad mini, iPod Touch 6g, iPod Touch 5g.

If you’re already running iOS 8.4.1 beta 1 on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, you can install beta 2 through Over-the-Air update feature. You can also download full-sized IPSW firmware file from Apple Developer Portal and follow our guide on how to install iOS using iTunes to restore it.
