A couple of months ago, a report made round of the cloud claiming that Apple will be launching three different models of new iPhone in 2015, including a 4-inch “iPhone 6c.” Then later in march, alleged iPhone 6c rear shell was leaked in photos.
Apple moved to larger screen smartphone category after about 6 years of original iPhone launch. The move resulted in some disappointed customers as Apple didn’t introduce updated model of its smaller screen iPhone variant. Rumours of a 4-inch variant of current iPhone models have been making round since late 2014. However, recently an analyst claimed that it was “unlikely” Apple would launch a smaller screen iPhone model in year 2015.
Now a new rumour, brought forward by GforGames, states that Apple will be manufacturing the smaller 4-inch screens for its upcoming “iPhone 7c,” in partnership with the Chinese-based AUO. The report claims “iPhone 7c” to launch in 2016.
A rough translation of the report reveals that either the iPhone 7c proper, or just the 4-inch displays will be ready to ship by the first quarter of 2016. Which could mean that Apple would be eyeing a late 2016 launch for the smaller iPhone variant alongside the larger iPhone 7 line-up.
Launch of the larger screen iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices has not only overcome its weakness of lack of larger screen device, both the devices have been a hit for the company since their debut. While Apple is enjoying the chunks of larger screen smartphone category which was previously secured by its competitors, it would not be difficult for the company to launch a smaller screen variant of these iPhone, especially with a slightly cheaper price tag, and minor under the hood hardware changes.
Would you like Apple to also launch a smaller 4-inch display iPhone 6c or iPhone 7c in near future?
