In a recent incident, iPhone 5c has proved that Apple makes durable and tough smartphones – to an extend that it’s toughness may even end up saving your life. One lucky owner of this 4-inch screen sized smartphone in Widnes, Cheshire survived being shot at after his iPhone 5c took the severe brunt of a gunshot.
According to the police statement, a gang of teenagers shut off the water supply to a Cheshire block where the 25 years old victim lived. The victim had confronted the gang and the argument ended up in a gang member pulling out a sawed-off double barrel shotgun and shot the man in his abdomen. Luckily, the victim was wearing a jacket with his iPhone 5c in the jacket’s pocket which miraculously worked as a shield as saved its owner from lethal injuries.
The force of the shotgun was so strong that the victim was taken off of his feet. The victim took some serious abdominal injuries though, and will require treatment at hospital, including operations as well. The victim would have “undoubtedly died” had the phone not been in victim’s pocket, says Detective Inspector Gary McIntyre from Cheshire Police.
Fortunately, the victim’s mobile phone took the brunt of the shot and, as a result of this, he survived. This is remarkable – had that phone not been in his pocket at that time he would undoubtedly have died.
Ryan Duggan, a 19 years old has been convicted and found guilty for the attempted murder and for being in possession of a firearm without a license which was recovered from nearby bush. He will be sentenced on the 10th of July.
