Alleged 12-inch MacBook Air display assembly photos reveal edge-to-edge glass design

Several photos of the alleged display assembly of Apple’s rumored 12-inch MacBook Air has been published by iFanr – a Chinese website. The published photos feature a twelve-inch screen display assembly with polished Apple logo and black glass cover.

Earlier this month, 9to5mac reported that Apple was planning to launch a mid-sized variant for its laptop lineup, and these recent photos, published by iFanr, seems to endorse that report. iFanr has also posted photo of alleged 12-inch display being compared with 9.7-inch iPad Air 2 and existing 13-inch MacBook Pro.

If we assume that the photos are legit and shows the actual display assembly of Apple’s rumored 12-inch MacBook Air, it clearly suggest that Apple is planning on replacing its iconic back-lit Apple logo with a polished Apple logo as found in the iPad. That would be kinda disappointing as the existing glowing MacBook logo is pretty cool, and really stands out in the crowd.

Photos also show that the rumored device would come with a 12-inch edge-to-edge display as found in Retina MacBook Pros. This is why the 12-inch display assembly looks way smaller than its 13-inch counterpart. This would result in a smaller display assembly measuring as big as the current 11-inch MacBook, thanks to the smaller bezels.

The rumored 12-inch MacBook Air is sad to feature a high-resolution display, the new Broadwell Core M processors for faster performance, and should also allow Apple to make the Air devices thinner than the current devices. Rumors also suggest that the upcoming rumored MacBook Air might come in Space Gray color, just like iPhones and iPads. The rumored notebook device, internally referred to as “MacBook Stealth”, is also said to feature least number of ports and connectors.
